    Vmax thermostat

I have a 1986 Vmax and I'm looking for an aftermarket source for a stock thermostat. Anyone have an idea where I might find one? Surprisingly enough the only thing I found on Ebay was in either Great Britan or China.

Venture & VMax Engine Serial Numbers

The bike does have the emissions system on it but I'm curious. You say it's 1983 model motor but Vmax first year is 1985. How does that work? The title shows it spent it's first part of it's life in Nevada before it made it's way to Florida in 2016. I'm the third owner.

Venture & VMax Engine Serial Numbers

I also have a motor question. The serial number on my 1986 is 1UR000168. Does anyone know what that tells me? Also there are two maybe quarter in castings on the case and it looks like it has engraved on in 96 \ 99. Any idea what that is?

    Grips

I'm looking at my grip options and some vendors say 7/8 bars and some say 1" bars fit. Does anyone know with one is actually correct for my stock bars on my 1986 VMax?

    Grips

I was wondering what grips people out there are using. I currently have foam grips which are super comfortable but are coming apart. I'm not looking for a custom look just a durable comfortable grip. Any suggestions?

Are you a new member? Come here and say hi!

Hello my name is Mike and I'm from Daytona Beach Florida. I recently bought my "every old guys dream bike" which is a 1986 VMax. I'm in the process now of making it perfect. Totally stock and not a mark on it. You guys on this board have been a great source of info.. Thanks you for that

    Front fork air

I'm pretty sure the reason of no air isn't progressive springs. I put 10 lbs of air in it and it proceeded to blow out fork oil all over the garage floor. It's in the shop now getting new seals.

    Popping though carbs

The guy I took the bike to was stunned that the carbs had not been touched (drilled covers) since it was new. He is gonna work on them while he is doing the fork seals this week. Over all he says it idles well and doesn't think it will require anything other than adjustment. He is gonna look at...

    Seat alternatives

Are we pretty much limited to the one piece Corbin seat if we want to upgrade the stock seat? I have a 1986 that is less than comfortable. Can the foam be replaced with a more modern material?

    Vboost issue

I bought a 1986 Vmax in very nice condition. I read where I should hear the vboost solenoid cycle when I turn the key on. It didn't seem to do that. It seems some say the connector behind the left scoop sometimes get corroded and causes this. I took the scoop off and the connector was clean. I...

    1986 Fork seal dust covers

Has anyone found a vendor in the US that sells dust shields for the forks on my 1986 Vmax?

    Popping though carbs

One other thing. The bike seems completely stock. No mods at all.

    Popping though carbs

I just purchased the bike a couple of weeks ago. It seems well cared for. The guy I bought it from said the bike is serviced at the dealer and they have all the records. He also said the the carbs were just synced before I bought it. He warned me about running it hard before it fully warms up or...

    Popping though carbs

I'm new to these bikes and I'm not sure what is normal. I have a 1986 Vmax and I have noticed that when idling if I crack the throttle and also on acceleration that I can hear a fairly faint popping what seems to be coming from under the air box. I'm wondering if it's an intake valve issue. If...

    Backfire

Good morning... this has now happened twice so I thought Id ask. I turn on the key and without touching the starter I will immediately get a single fire from one of the cylinders. It doesn't backfire though the intake its just a quick single poof through the exhaust. Anything to worry about?
