I have a budy with a vmax that cuts out at 4k, tach dives to 0 and recently found out it has an 83 venture ecm. Are there any problems with ecm in this bike? What are some common causes for a bikes tach to dive like its been unplugged?

Just like that i fouled a plug on cylinder number 4 (front right.) was running fine and is noticably missing at idle, carbs are synced, good fuel. Kind of at a loss. any help would be great. Thanks Jeremy

Got it figured out. Its the control unit. Now who has a spare to sell me ?

It just stopped working today, ran and operated as usual last night. Now no servo check when i turn the bike on and it looks and sounds like it wants to move backwards and hits the stop. If anybody has ran into this any help would be great. Thanks much, Jeremy

It was lean Installed some 42.5 jets at 1.5 turns out on the screw and we are back to lifting the tire in second gear!! oh and for the record I was looking at the air jets being a 90 and a 170 the main is a 165 and now pilot is a 42.5, everything else was stock and a little dirty. Jeremy

Got it figured out, after riding with new plugs in it i have determined that its lean. It is in the mid to lower 50's here and after talking to a local shop owner he said he has had to increase jet sizes on the 85 and 86 maxes due to cold weather. The bike will not even rev past 5 grand...

Got it put back together. I dont know what brand jet they are, but after the clean up it idles much smoother. And now I have also noticed that my idle is slightly higher than it was before, sitting now at 1050 as compared to 800. The bike now starts easier and the off idle response is MUCH...

you need to adjust the head bearings, you def. need a rear tire and you should also dial in the rear suspension for your weight per the manual. after that your bike should be smooth as glass up to 130+ like mine is.

Yup, If I am really in it shifting at redline the oil light will come on and stay on for alot longer than I would like to see. Is that normal? and yes the oil is filled to the top of the sight glass when the bike is on the center stand. Jeremy
