Thanks - I will give it a try! I always wait for the fuel pump to prime and shut off, but I have not tried to repeat the cycle multiple times.

My gen 2 did it new and after the Nash flash. Would be interested if there is a fix? All the gens 2 that I see do it…it’s a normal engineering defect. This is my number one complaint on my gen 2. If it is hot… like pull off for fuel, it will start up normal. First spin of the crank.

It bolts in the same holes of the cover plates, but uses longer bolts that come with the backrest. So when you remove the backrest you have to put the plates on with it's own bolts.

You will have to find a used one. They are discontinued from Yamaha and I called many dealers through out the US with no luck of any old stock about 4 months ago. I did find someone with a used one that I picked up in new condition. Just keep looking! Sometimes they are on bikes for sale too. If...

Thanks for all the help. I did buy the black one new (from Babbits). Maybe stripping it is an option? Never thought of that! Babbits is great. I have made many purchases from them with zero issues. I recommend them to anyone looking for OEM parts. Thanks again for all the help!
