Parts For Sale Yellow 1994 body parts

Woody, the blue '85 looks great. I have an '85 in Dark Amethyst; just picked it up.

Which rear rim was available on the 1985 VMax? The one with the "triangles", the "discus", or both?

Thanks, I did some digging and found an old, wayward posting by an owner who said he had an '86 produced in late '85 that came with the '85 rear rim. Looks like the "mag" style front rim came on the (US) 85's and 86's, and when it came back to the US in '88, it had been replaced with the new...

Which rear rim was available on the 1985 VMax? The one with the "triangles", the "discus", or both?

Was wondering if the '85s were available with both rim styles (attached). Also, what was the first year of the front disc rim?

Just got my first Max (1985), but it won't be my last...

I noticed a table in a different post listing VIN numbers. Do the two letters in the beginning indicate anything (color, factory of origin, etc?) Seems the '85s begin with either 1FK, 1GR, or 1JH. Mine is 1FK (after the "JYA"). Thanks.

Just got my first Max (1985), but it won't be my last...

Thanks for the info! I looked up Ken Howard, and now can see why everyone in Miami Beach was wearing "Von Dutch" apparel 20 years ago. I hope Ken's family got some residuals from that fashion craze. After having read this, I'll keep the pinstriping no matter what. My body shop guy was right; it...

Just got my first Max (1985), but it won't be my last...

My VIN ends in 1787 -- would that be considered "early production", and if so, is that good, or not so good? Thanks.

To paint or not to paint?

That is an excellent color. Can Color-Rite source that shade, or is there another source?

To paint or not to paint?

I'm with you on the pinstriping. My (auto, unfortunately not motorcycle) body shop owner said he'd keep the pinstriping, as it's a vestige of a "lost art".

To paint or not to paint?

Will do. I like the Deep Scarlet a tad more than the Dark Amethyst, which is similar to the blue paint on my Fazer. I'll keep my feelers out for a set of "tins", and hopefully have both colors that can be interchanged.

I like the "oldest survivor" designation-- how do I join that "club"? Thanks.

To paint or not to paint?

I know this was an old post, but do you have any photos of the pinstripes? I just picked up an '85 with pinstripes -- trying to decide whether to repaint, or keep them along with the Dark Amethyst "patina". What did you end up doing with your paint? Thanks.
