Parts For Sale Gen 1 parts and accessories for sale

I'm getting out of the Gen 1 game after years of gathering parts etc. Check out the other ad as well and let me know if anything interests you for your winter hibernation project. The highlights are new engine protectors, 2 new speedo buckets, mint 3 piece seat skin off of an 05, stock sissy bar...

Update to my post asking Gen 2 riders to tell me what its like to ride a Gen 2

I installed a set of the engine case mounted pegs from a gentleman on Ebay from Australia. With my long legs, I still didn't find them comfortable. I added a set of adjustable offsets and some better pegs, now it hits the mark for comfy. Not a cheap fix, but worth it for the long haul. Not the...

If you can't find one close to home, I have 2 of them here in Canada if you are willing to cover shipping.

Parts Wanted Rear tail assembly gen 1

I have all the parts you have listed if you are interested. I'm a Canadian member, so I don't know if you would want to ship back home to the States.

    Which Gen should I get?

If you can handle the height and weight of the gen 2, go for one of them. I've had 3 of each model and I am currently in the process of selling what will be my last gen 1 in favor of my gen 2. This will start a firestorm of controversy with the gen 1 faithful, but realistically at the age of any...

Top tier gas vs non-top tier + fuel treatments

Wow! That is just a little bit ugly! Hard to believe there were no ill effects from all that crud!

Top tier gas vs non-top tier + fuel treatments

Good to hear a real life experience on the subject. I certainly can't dispute those findings. I believe Chevron in the States would be equal to one of our big name companies. That's why I stipulated purchasing name brand gas rather than buying low octane ethanol loaded gas from "Joe's Cut Rate...

Top tier gas vs non-top tier + fuel treatments

Spend you hard earned money on ethanol free fuel of any name brand and don't worry about the detergents etc. That'd be my advice. It's the ethanol that does all the damage and the rest of the "beneficial" additives are just slick marketing practices. It's only my opinion, but my '05 has run...

Can you guys with the Gen 2's answer my question

I've had 3 gen 1's and 3 gen 2's over the years. The gen 2's are a heavy bike to say the least, but well mannered and easy to ride. They are only as aggressive as your throttle inputs are. Far better cornering and braking than gen 1's. Personally, I see no need for Guru upgrades for the average...

    Is this possible?

Have you used S100 on a gen 2 bike or only gen 1's? I had disastrous results with the finish on the engine of my brand new gen 2 back in 09. Haven't touched the stuff since. Used to use it on all of my bikes, but the harm it done to my 09 put a stop to that.

    Silly Emblem Question

The odd thing is that they still market Star products up here. My Venture TC is a Star line bike. Here is a shot of the marketing poster from the 09 release of the new Vmax here in Canada.

    Silly Emblem Question

From what I've seen, it appears that all Canadian bikes were marketed as Yamaha with the tuning forks while the American bikes were Star products. I've had an 09, 16 and now a 15 here in Canada all with the tuning forks. I could be mistaken, but I think that you'll find that is where the...

Did you ever find a sissy bar for your bike?

    Motorcycle Collections

I was up to 10 at one point, but maintaining and insuring them was killing me! I've spent the last couple of years cutting down to the 3 I want to keep. My 05 Vmax, 15 Vmax and 18 Venture TC. I've been through 3 different gen 1's and gen 2's to get to my favorites. I just got the 15 a couple...

What is the point of this key holder?

The best that I can imagine is that it is supposed to have a ring or clip added to the provided hole on the side of it and then clip it to your belt or jacket and insert the key into it when the bike is parked. I've had 3 of these with the gen 2's now and the first place the big key holder goes...

    Battery Lifting Handle Design

I use an old piece of nylon dog leash cut to the appropriate length to go under the battery with an inch or so left sticking out above the battery on each side to grasp on to. Works like a charm!

    OEM Gen 2 Saddlebags?

That's great! My advice is based solely on my experience with the accessory offering from Yamaha. Quality was good but functionality was poor. If the Shad option looks good, hopefully it will work just as well for you.

    OEM Gen 2 Saddlebags?

I had OEM accessory saddlebags on my 09. My opinion is don't waste your time. They are fixed on the bike and absolutely tiny. I used to ride my bike to work on occasion and had to put one safety shoe in each side as they wouldn't fit in one bag. They'll handle small items but are useless as a...
