Thats correct. I installed them accordingly hmm I found a missing clamp on the carb boot also. didn't think much of it, but I guess there could be unregulated air coming in there.

It was a little frustrating. I removed the impeller cover, and the thermostat, and loosed all of the radiator hoses to be able to have enough play to get that elbow off and get the thermostat off.

I would guess so. I found out today behind there is oil behind the water pump. So I bet that gasket needs to be replaced if you're pulling the water pump
