When I owned my '06 I went on several VMax events and blipping the throttle was common upon arriving at an event/destination and when we stopped at traffic lights. I personally do not see any harm in blipping the throttle away from quiet areas (e.g. parks, residential areas) and at sensible...

+1 on your VStrom experience. I considered a V-Strom as a replacement for my Vmax in 2008. I had one out twice on demo days and it is truly an all-around great bike. I would have to say that the build quality on the ones I drove was above Gen-1 VMax standards. The EFI on mine worked well...

This behaviour is not exclusive to Harley owners. Take your pick: metric cruisers, Victory's, sport bikes, etc. Anyone who likes the sound of his/her pipes is going to blip the throttle. Blaine

My son and I had a nice 330 km ride today up into cottage country. Used less than 1 tank of gas (17 litres)! I'm glad everyone in the family enjoys motorcycling...it's a great way to bond. Cheers! Blaine
