Make dure the airbox boots are seated good.

You might try unplugging the sidestand relay, I have seen them do what you are describing. This may not be the problem but it is worth a try.

I use the 4 vacuum gauge type, some people on here like the more expensive sets

My 85 has the sidestand kill switch, so i assume that all years came with it

Sounds to me like you need to drop a couple gears and quit lugging the motor, 2500 is ok for cruising but to accelerate drop it to third gear

The stock needle work fine with the stage 7, you just need larger main jets

New plug wires can do wonders sometimes

Check the charging system first, with engine cold and hot. Low voltage does weird things to the tci ignition box

They cut them down all the time and I have not heard of a problem, just get a good welder
