    Michigan hooligan ride

Something to consider if you run the east side of the lake. There are 2 ferries that cross over to WI in 3 or 4 hours, I don't remember the transit time. We crossed Lake MI in 2015 on the USS Badger, the north ferry, as the sun was going down on the bow and the moon was coming up on the stern -...

    turn signal

A stupid comment about self canceling.... Insurance companies don't like them and here's why, this happened to my cousin 30 years ago in a brand new car, I don't remember the exact specifics but about like this: His car was hit by another at an intersection. As it was about to be loaded onto a...

    Bonehead bolt rounding move...

Did anyone point out the "back" of the movable jaw should always be in contact with the pipe or fitting to prevent the jaw / wrench from pinching or deforming the pipe or fitting ? As the torque is increased, the pinching effect goes up very quickly and can "oblong" whatever you're working on...

    New bars

I'm not familiar with how many wires are in the switch harness, but I usually offset my splices a 1/4 in or more to eliminate that big bulge where the splices are. So, when you're cutting the wires, cut them one at a time and move your cut over a little on each wire. Practice up on your...

    Just saw this on CL

Actually +1 right now is a perfect original Suzuki RL 250 (my 1st trials bike in 1975) sitting in San Jose waiting for a ride home. + 2 is an RZ 500 I'm having inspected soon but I have a feeling it's not gonna pass. In the shop right now N = 35. My kids might do the "-N" someday but not me ...

    Just saw this on CL

Maybe some of you will agree Minneapolis is now the "New" Detroit. Floyd riots and our d--khead leaders accellerated the demise of a once great city with a clean, crime free, vibrant downtown where one could walk late at night leaving a bar or sporting event or concert. We used to have...

    Just saw this on CL

The correct answer to "How many bikes do you have ?" is "Not enough."

    Gen 1 supertrapps

For a trip to the bar and back or a few rips up the street they're OK. For an all day ride they get boring. You decide after a 3 hr 1 way and let us know. You could take out all but one baffle plate but then it's no longer a Max !!

    Gen 1 supertrapps

Buy a box of ear plugs and put several packets in each pocket of every jacket or vest you'll ever use on the Max Trapp. Eventually you'll find the last packet and be glad you found it. And after a couple of rides your buddies will be borrowing and eventually stealing them from you when you go to...

Live in the Snow Belt? Recently bought a new TV? Don't toss that cardboard box!

Good one on the pool ! On the other hand though, the snow and cold used to keep the riff raff out but not any more.

Live in the Snow Belt? Recently bought a new TV? Don't toss that cardboard box!

You could put a John Deere decal on a garbage can and it would probably plow snow better than most things out there.

    I'm a Harbor Freight addict

"Earthquake" (Chinese) is why I started with and stayed with Milwaukee. An old friend loves HF for the cheap "Get it done once is good enough" aspect so I went in there with him one time and quickly realized the name should be "Chinese Harbor Freight". I think the only thing in those stores...

    I'm a Harbor Freight addict

I'll go out of my way and pay more to not support covid country but on some purchases it's not even possible. Who remembers when "Made in Japan" was a slam on your cycle, car or stereo ? I just like to get good stuff wherever it's made and have it around again for the next time. Our neighbor in...

    Garage Floor Finishes

I have the same floor and the same problem. In addition to losing parts, this finish is pretty slippery from the final coat of clear epoxy. I almost lost a bike while rolling them back in after the finish was cured. It was winter and the tread picked up a little snow in the driveway. After that...

Yet another Gen1 - critical mass achieved

You could sell that CBX to me as-is and keep that other V Max you mentioned selling, eliminate a project and have a little more room in the shop !

Yet another Gen1 - critical mass achieved

Nice, but why would you ever sell a cycle, let alone a nice Vmax ? Not a good precedent. LOL

    1st gear burnouts?

Agreed. I think most of the fun on 2 wheels (and 4) involves intentional lost traction, be it pavement, dirt, snow or ice and in MN we get all 4. Lake ice is fun on 250 and 500 MXers . A Vmax on ice, not so fun !

    1st gear burnouts?

We shred our tires just before we remove them - they make good trophies.

    1st gear burnouts?

Gen 2 breaks the wheel loose at 4K or so, don't need to worry about overrevving. It helps to find some poor traction at the intersection if there is any like a little sand or extra smooth concrete. Once it's loose just keep it spinning at low RPM to stay incognito. It doesn't work very well with...
