You should've sanded the ceramic coating at the joints down a bit (alot of work with emery cloth) to get more of a slip fit. It will be a horrendous BITCH to get the pipes off again (DON'T ask me how I know!) Also, there was a rubber stopper somewhere on the stock pipes(?) or on the center stand...

I removed mine without using a drill at all. Get some #6 Phillips head screws with a nice point and carefully drive them into the holes about 1/4 inch (brass is soft). Pull on them with pliers and the plugs will come right out

Rusty, the ignition box can be repaired. Sometimes it's only a cold solder joint.

The ignition box could be the problem, but of what I know of electronics (17+ years of experience), the transistors in the box will either work or not work at all. RPM shouldn't make a difference, but I suppose anything is possible.

You could be leaking spark somewhere at the lower RPMS. Run the bike in the dark and look/listen for arcing. Seen this happen on mine, replaced wires, fixed it.

Rusty, that Cybermax light sucks without the relay kit. Makes a world of difference. I've had to light the way for another Vmaxer one night on the highway with my stock light and him with the Cybermax. He put in the relays and..voila!..he can see at night.

Which bracket do you keep breaking? The one that the blinkers attach to? Wow, you must be extremly strong or something. I tend to tighten the crap out of things too, but breaking that bracket has to be very difficult. As for the water pump cover...get some Permatex Hi-Temp Black gasket maker...

If you are patient, you'll find an OEM system on Ebay. I've seen them go in almost new shape for around $200.

I have mine mounted under the left scoop. I moved two of the items there inboard and it left a nice tidy space for the R1 R/R. It even sits in a "hook"!

No need to strip the chrome. Sand it to make it rough then spray with Bulldog adhesion promoter. Paint with black engine enamel. Setup looks good. Just one question, does the tail light light up the license plate? Cops can hassle you if it doesn't.
