I'm no expert but I have tried to remove those staked bolts on a blown engine a while back and they would not budge..with an impact. Personally i would try and seal the cover better. Where was the leak coming from?

Talked to the guy..gonna give this a go. By the way had the PCW HD starter clutch mod but the bolts were not the problem..cracked starter..and the bolts are tack welded.:bang head:

If its stock and attached to the footpeg plate..just remove the plate

Barnett should have direct throttle to carb cables..(no junction box)

Borrow a known good battery to make sure its not something else. I also had that hot idle problem but I think a switch to COPs helped eliminate it. Also have the HD ground kit, R1 R/R, 4 brush starter and hard wire starter ground. I was also told that at idle when hot and no airflow the mixture...

Was it tightened to proper torque?

I was wondering about the starter cable in particular. Yes the ground cable definately helped.

Forgot that I have the PCW HD starter clutch..I thought I saw somewhere that he tack welds the bolts so they don't move. Don't know if he always did this..work was done in a few years ago. I'm going to replace battery first and see if problem goes away..if not I'll pull flywheel.

Can someone confirm this? Mine drops to like 10.5 or so. If above is true I may replace battery although it has measures 12.69 V without starting. Battery IS on the older side though.

Once every couples of tries when starting (especially when hot) I do seem to be getting the bag of rocks sound coming from the starter clutch. Should you NEVER get this sound when trying to start or is it time to look into the starter clutch?

I think I had a similar problem years ago so I don't remember exactly what solved it but definately check for shorts and check entire charging system, all relays in the system (starter relay, also kickstand shut off relay, neutral relay etc). Check/upgrade/clean grounding system as well.
