    2005 Resurrection

Thanks, FM! Once I had the long allen socket, the impact got it right out. And today is CALIPER DAY! Here's the parts all cleaned up, and a pic of the finished product.

    2005 Resurrection

Oh, and the other fork is still on the bike. I can't get the screw out of the bottom... The internals started spinning with the screw. I'm awaiting long allen wrench sockets to be delivered. Hoping the impact will get it out.

FORK DAY! First pic is the old seal and dust cap. Pretty sure I could have gotten another 10k miles out of them, but I figured I would change them anyway. 😜 Second pic is all cleaned up and ready for reassembly.

I totally get it. And I appreciate the skill required to build and tune it!

putting a holley 4 barrel on vmax

Very interested in your expert opinion after you run her through the ringer! I'm at a point that I think OEM engineers know what they are doing and changing an intake and exhaust will only yield minimal performance gains (5% or so)... Mostly they improve the exhaust note and make the rider...

    2005 Resurrection

I got the old tank out. Turns out that was the easy part... I wanted to replace the rear exhaust headers because I put a lot of pressure on them when I removed the mufflers (and I had another pair laying around). What a bitch getting those out/in! But after 2 hours and lots of swearing, it was...

    Which number 20th Anniversary Edition?

My 2005 VIN ends in 88996. Pic of emblem below. So is the limited "X of 2000" engraved onto the emblem, painted on, or just a sticker? Would love to hear from someone first hand with a pic.

    2005 Resurrection

I feel the same way. I don't understand why people buy bikes, or boats, and then can't do the bare minimum like cover them when stored outside. The more I did into this one, the better she seems. The rear rotor was barely functioning... I removed it and the pads were so rusted they fell...

    2005 Resurrection

Thanks! The rear pipes were fine, but I put a lot of pressure on them getting the mufflers off. I'm a little scared I cracked one or something... And I have an extra set sitting on the shelf so figure I should just do it and replace them.

    2005 Resurrection

Thanks, FM! I de-rusted and coated the tank from another Vmax a year ago. So that one is ready to drop in. I got the rear caliper off today. Ugh, the pads were so rusted that they fell apart! I've always had good experiences with Brake crafters for caliper and master cylinder rebuild kits...

    2005 Resurrection

I bought this bike a few months back and finally have a chance to begin working on her. She's a 2005 with 21k miles, but seems to have been stored outside uncovered for a good portion of her life - so I paid $2k for her. The seat was torn and had green growth on it, the fork seals have...

I run 11 Vbulletin Forums, facebook, smugmug, etc on a g5 network, this forum is frozen in time

I've never had any problem with this site. I wonder if this is a hardware problem for the OP? It appears his keyboard is lacking any punctuation keys and the CAPS LOCK seems to pop on/off sporadically.

    A Taller Saddle, A much Taller Saddle,,,!@?

Forward controls are your friend. I'm only 6'1". But my knees just don't like being bent for any period of time. Once I put forward controls on my Vmax, and a Morley seat, I finally have the comfort I desire. And she ain't fugly. ;)

    Dying while driving

Do the jiggle! Start the bike, pull in the clutch and put it in gear, and then have someone start jiggling different switches and contacts starting with the kickstand. I used to have a Magna that was known to have a dirty kill switch issue... the kill/run switch by your right thumb when dirty...
