    Throttle cable question

It had aftermarket cables off of something else when I got it. PO thought he was some kind of fabricator but apparently just liked trying to cob things together. I don't have any of the stock ones to compare with. How do you adjust the sliders?

    Throttle cable question

Mike, that's exactly what I was looking for, thanks. Well, that sucks cause that's how I have them installed. Was hoping they were wrong so it would be an easy fix. I can't figure out why I have so much free play in the throttle. If I get it where it's close, I only have each side attached by...

    Throttle cable question

I don't think I was being real clear on my initial question, so I went out and took some pics. What I need to know is, does the cable in the first pic with the threaded adjuster hook to the cable in the second pic with the threaded adjuster inside of the connector under the scoop? You can see...

    Throttle cable question

Do you mean the lead looking barrel part? The piece at the top of the cable that fits onto the two holes in the throttle tube? If so, then yeah that is all good. When I put Sean's muscle kit in a couple of weeks ago, the throttle free play was gone when I put it all back together. Problem was...

    Throttle cable question

Hey all, quick question. On the throttle cables, do the cables that have the adjustable barrel nuts connect to each other? Reason I ask is that since I put the ss lines on, there has always been a crap load of free play on my throttle. When I installed them, I just assumed those two ends...

    Free stainless braided hose

Fred, here is the thread where Redbone told me what to get. The hose comes in a 3 ft minimum length, so you should find someone to go in on it with you. Only need like 16-17 inches to hook it up. http://www.vmaxforum.net/showthread.php?t=20997&page=3

    Free stainless braided hose

Hose is gone. I have some other stuff I might throw on here as well. Stock clutch cover insert, some reservoir covers and a few other items.

    Free stainless braided hose

Hey all, I am cleaning out some stuff in my garage and have a piece of the braided stainless hose to be used for a crankcase breather system. Just put Sean's kit on my bike and had to order longer than I needed from Summit. The length is a few inches longer than you will need so it can be cut to...

    Valve cover direction

Cool, thanks guys. Sean, who gets the shim kit next?

    Valve cover direction

Okay, I figured out the orientation of the gaskets on the cover, but still need to know which way the arrow on the casting of the covers need to point. One other thing, I drained and pulled the carbs yesterday to make as much room as possible. Will not having fuel in the bowls for a couple of...

    Valve cover direction

Hey all, I adjusted my valves today because I had two leaking valve cover gaskets and figured what the hell. Everybody wasn't joking, this job SUCKED. Anyway, got it all done and am ready to put everything back together. Problem is, I didn't pay alot of attention to the orientation of the...

stage 1 or 7 jet kit?

Pittnathan, don't waste your money on stage 1. My bike came with this installed and it ran like crap. I put Sean's muscle kit in last weekend and it is a night and day difference. I don't have any experience with the stage 7, so no opinion there. Good luck.

    VMF Patches Are Here

Just got one from you on ebay as well. Look pretty sharp. Any chance of ever selling the tshirts the same way?

    Installed Morley muscle kit

Hey all, got Sean's jet kit installed today. Had a few issues, of course, but all in all not too bad. I had never messed with the carbs on anything before so I took my time and kept coming in to look at the appropriate stickys on here. The only real problem I had was getting the T hooked back...

    Well.......crap.

Mark, they were pretty big. I would think the filter would have for sure stopped them. Also, they were black like I assume the rubber pieces would be. BTW, awesome job on all your carb rebuild write ups. Will make the job doable for this rook.

    Well.......crap.

    How would you check that?
  17. midmoraider

    Well.......crap.

I got Sean's muscle kit in the mail yesterday. Planned on installing it this weekend. Just fer the hell of it, I decided to check my wet float levels after work today. The first one I measured, the gas damn near came out of the tube with the markings on it. So, I guess it was a little rich...

Buying a used 1st gen V-Max - skinny short guy lol

It does like to flex coming out of corners in stock form. Frame braces can take away most of this. Also, having the steering head bearing set correctly makes a huge difference as well. I also lowered mine 2" in the front and 1.5" in the rear. This seems to make it turn in much easier and...

Buying a used 1st gen V-Max - skinny short guy lol

Shawn, welcome to the forum. I was in your shoes early last year. I was 14 when the Vmax came out in 85, my dad was always a Yamaha guy, so I swore that one day I would have one. There are several guys on the forum that sell different seats. The stock seat sucks anyway. I got one from Sean...
