I've found that the "Box of Rocks" sound, is the 1st hint that the starter clutch needs to be addressed. When the starter clutch has gotten so loose, that it no longer engages, it sounds like a high pitched whine, or, as you've so eloquently described "like a dying cat screaming at you" lol.

Welcome to the forum.. I guess the 1st thing I would look at is,,, after the oil is drained; 1) how much did I remove. 2) what was the condition of the oil. Was it just dark in color, or was it brown and milky? In other words, if it was smeared on the site glass, would it look opaque? 3) or...

Maybe a silly question, but, for any reason, did you happen to replace, or disassemble the pulser pickup wires leading from the stator area, that connects under the seat?

If 3:00 O'Clock is is the middle, my fan kicks in around 2:30. Mine varies between 2:30 - 3:00 when just sitting still. Don't remember seeing it get hotter than 2:15.

Don't know if this might help, but I figured you've tried damn near everything else.. Rundown of my issue. For the longest time after getting my used 91 max, I had this stumble rolling from 4-5K, no matter what gear. Did all the testing you could think of. Changed out carb and v-boost...

Since Yamaha did not build the bike with a coated tank, (They did not anticipate 10% Ethanol in the fuel we now must use, which draws in water from the air, which causes rust in a steel tank), most people don't coat their tanks. They just deal with the **** that the rust causes.. Messed up...

See how the meter shows a 0.0 when you touch the leads... Run a continuity test on each wire of the sender individually. If you get a 0.0 at the connector lead, and keeping the same color wire at the senders end, will tell you which wire is broken.
