Wish I had the space for an addiction like yours. I was curious about the splotchy finish on the lid and fenders. Some sort of custom paint job? The pics weren't clear enough to make out what was going on there. That'd be awesome if it fires up after a good cleaning LOL

You son of a gun! I wondered if you were going to check it out.

Do yourself a solid and listen to Pearl. Another masterpiece. She's backed by the Full Tilt Boogie Band on that one.

Looks to be 28,255. I'd snag this in a hot second if I had the time and space for another project. NC DMV is easy to work with.

    Gen 2 Engine Development begins

Presumably the sale price I'd not considered the challenge of controlling the tweaked tolerances during mass production. That makes complete sense. Thank you sir.

    Gen 2 Engine Development begins

Not sure there's a correct answer so opinions are welcome. Why wouldn't Yamaha have incorporated these improvements when the gen 2 was being engineered? Weren't these technologies available in years leading up to 2009? If they'd released the gen 2 as a 300hp bike it would've been a shot heard...

1st Gen On The Newsstands (again)

It said Nov and was the only issue on display. Didn't catch any problems with the article but I only glossed over it for a minute. I do recall a comment calling into question Yamaha's claimed 145hp, saying it tested between 119 and 135. That left a sour taste.

1st Gen On The Newsstands (again)

I wasn't familiar till stumbling across it at Barnes & Noble last night. It was a cool mag though. The VMax article had a section with old-school reviews which was pretty awesome. It was called a "two wheeled funnycar" and a "whack across the forehead with a running chainsaw" LOL. One writer...

    Am I missing a bolt?

Pulled up the cover and took a peek for you. No bolt on that side either. There was, however, a creepy ass spider. Thanks for the heebie-jeebies Shawn.

1st Gen On The Newsstands (again)

Latest issue of Motorcycle Classics features notable bikes of the 80s. It rightfully devotes 6 pages to the V-Max.

How much clearance between stock cans & swingarm?

Yeah, I bought a ridonkulously long extension specifically to reach that bolt. Just curious - You getting a new flash? And what'd you end up doing with the EXUP system?

How much clearance between stock cans & swingarm?

I'm running the stock cat and cans and it looks the same. Like your setup, the right side is the closer of the two. My pinky won't fit between the can and swing arm at the narrowest point.
