    Rode a Spyder this weekend

+1, that was a very interesting read. I had no idea there were so computer monitored. I guess that makes them more entry level friendly. Just imagine the donuts you could hang on on of those with independent front brakes and no traction/stability nanny keeping you in check.

only put maybe 500mi on my vmax and think I want a CBR1000

There comes a point, I think, where the fun of being able to wring out a bike exceeds the fun of having a faster bike. The liter sleds, well, nothing really goes like they do, just absolute insanity. But, to really put that down and pull it hard through a couple of gears requires more space...

    Supertrapps and the discs

+1 for Spec-ops - you'll go rich as you open up breathing after the motor (new exhaust, open pipes, etc.), leaner as you open it up before (ie. removing the airbox Y, filter pods, etc.) The more discs you add, the richer it should run. I don't really know how much I buy super-trapps line that...

Looking to "sync-up" with another member in the upstate NY region

Chris - I used to drive through Manchester every day when I was going to FLCC - nice little ride over for me on the bike now. We will have to nail down some time to get together - what's your Saturday morning look like? Shoot me a PM. Guys - thank you for all your willingness to help out...

Lets Bench Race - 2002 bolt on Vmax vs. 2003 bolt on C5Z06

I think that's pretty accurate, this is going to be a drivers race. I am still pretty confident in the Vmax from a stop. I've had several RWD cars that I frequented to the street and strip for racing and I did a few launches last week in the vette, and while it sticks well for what it is, it...

Lets Bench Race - 2002 bolt on Vmax vs. 2003 bolt on C5Z06

Indeed I was (quite pleased). The Vmax's pilot jet on cylinder #2 was giving a fuss when we were suppose to get together last week, so I just drove the cage over. So no race. (Pilot jet has since been cleared and functioning appropriately.) But, yes, I did get to log some more Z06 seat time...

Looking to "sync-up" with another member in the upstate NY region

I got to spend some time this week/weekend with the Vmax. I completed the peashooter as well as fixing my choke linkage, and resolved some intermittent 3 cylinder-ing under pilot circuit conditions. Bike is running good, but I'm pretty sure I'm well due for a good carb sync. Under very light...

Webster NY (Rochester) 1985 for sale many mods

There is a less than 1000 mile 07 out near Syracuse for less money than that... somebody is dreaming at that price.

    Curse My Lack of Luck

+1, unless you're going to ride it, just let it sit. Just warming it up for 5 minutes introduces undue condensation, and needlessly taxes the charging system. Better to just add some fuel stabilizer and wait it out.

May have to sell the Vmax

I agree, I think long term the $1,000.00 you might make on selling the bike isn't going to help you're family situation much in the long run, and you'll miss the bike once it's gone, and you've found another job. Selling an '85 with 30k, some rust and a bad tranny is going to be challenging...

Mythbusters: OE Rev limiter and overrev dangers

Update: Harlen shift light is installed. Again, I let my wife do most of the work, she likes learning this stuff. Pretty easy install, the OE tach wiring really makes it easy to hook up everything you need. What a fantastic mod this is. I feel I can actually ride the bike like it should be...

Lets Bench Race - 2002 bolt on Vmax vs. 2003 bolt on C5Z06

I dunno, there are plenty of stone stock C5Z06's that have made 11 second passes, and he is well modded to be a least a few tenths quicker yet. I think it'll be a win no prob for the max on the street in a 0-80 or so race. Street quarter the max wins, strip quarter the max wins, but with...

Lets Bench Race - 2002 bolt on Vmax vs. 2003 bolt on C5Z06

This is an '03, LS6 - 405hp stock, he's probably close to 400hp at the wheels with his mods. It would be reasonable to expect him to crank off anywhere from a 11.9 to 11.5 with really good driving. On the street he is significantly more handicapped from a dig due to traction, the car hooks...

Lets Bench Race - 2002 bolt on Vmax vs. 2003 bolt on C5Z06

It's all we got in the winter time... keeps my mind from turning to complete mush at work. We'll try and get some video, it'll be interesting, and a aural treat if nothing else... I can hardly think of two finer sounds machines.

    Practice makes perfect

+1, that was pretty intense. Auto-x for bikes, never seen that before. Done it a few times with various cars I've owned, always a blast, and highlights the ability (or lack there of) to drive, not the car.

Lets Bench Race - 2002 bolt on Vmax vs. 2003 bolt on C5Z06

So, my good friend Rob has a real sharp '03 Z06 Vette. Nice car, very tasteful asthetic mods - silver car with black wheels on a chrome lip, and blackouts. The go-fast parts are also well through out for a bolt on car, a full header back exhaust with x-pipe, Borla Stingers, Vararam cold/ram...

    Screw size for choke linkage

Yes - very small! You sir, are the man. Thank you. PM sent! A drink is owned next time you come through the Auburn-Syracuse NY area, we'll grab a bite at Quaker State, Wild Wings, or something. Thanks.

    Screw size for choke linkage

Anybody know what the machine screw size is for the little set screw that ties the choke arm linkage to the carb. I have noticed that since I have had the bike, it drags 1 cylinder a bit on a cold start, running with the choke. I just figured out why, the left front cylinder has no set screw...

    1500 cc being built

Stroke may be the most effective $ per hp solution in this application, whether or not it's the best from a strictly end result viewpoint. It's the reason that SBC guys build 383's all day long, instead of going out and getting 400 or aftermarket blocks to get more bore - it's just a cheaper...

    1500 cc being built

True. But is that a bad thing? The Max is a already pretty well setup as a 1/4 mile, crush all-comers light to light, beast. Building a stroker that builds torque even sooner and harder is just going to play off the Maxes ability to launch hard and straight and make an even more potent drag...
