I did it to mine and used the same gauge wire as the r/r had on it but I did both the hot (+) wire and the ground (-) wires. I replaced my R/R, to get more from it 14.3 at 1500 rpm and up and 13.9 at 1000 rpm. Before I did this I was about 1.5 volt less at each reading.
