If you’re waiting for a cool down to start, I suggest checking out your starter condition if you already have a good battery, they will lose the ability to ground after years of use and will hate hot starts, search for threads on this have done it before and makes a big difference. Cheers to you.

Is your cooling fan working and could it be requiring more than its share of voltage, just a thought.

I used a q tip on all the needle valves then replaced all the needles then checked all the carbs then reinstalled them then went for a ride then synced them then I rested!

No problem, bike is an 89, i have the wiring diagram for it and have looked at it ALOT, but I am lost as to why I get no lights on starting or any other time, thankfully I am able to ride but would like to get this sorted, using odometer for fuel gauge and eyes on the oil.

I ride mine to work at a restaurant, some joker poured a little RICE under my bike and came in to tell me it WAS leaking something went out to check, oh yeah it always does that! Yuk yuk snort.

Just wondering if you let it run for awhile will it stall out, that would be your fuel pump not working right, mine did that when coming out of hibernation, was my reserve switch not being happy.

SO today I got after that over flowing carb, did not start out very well, first I started the bike to see if it still leaked, well NO it doesn't. Why not? OH it's because my fuel pump is not working, WHY? Gurrr. Well I have been running with the switch in RES since owning it, hot wired the pump...

What dannymax says, been there done that every spring needle is sticky, cleaned mine and good to go will be replacing this year.

Mine is a Kmart brand 3amp inherited from my dad in 82 still works great even though one day I got a lil pissed off and kicked the crap out of it lol!

I change my oil yearly, ride moderately aggressive, 4000 miles per year don’t add any more oil, that’s my experience 81000 miles on bike.

Go for the fazer, rare machine love the look. After many years of riding my xt500 I bought a VMAX awesome machine scares me every time but it’s all good, let us know what happens!
