I had no issues until I installed the integrated tail light, so I think it’s just a design flaw that the manufacturer could have easily rectified by using a few diodes in the circuitry.

Okay so my fix works, I wired in a small 20A 12V relay on the yellow brake light wire (from brake light switches to pin 85 on relay) earth pin 86, take a battery live from the thick red wire on the voltage regulator (pin 30 on relay) connect the yellow wire to the brake light (pin 87 on relay)...

I had the same issue, your gear indicator switch under the transmission has a loose connection on the neutral pin due to vibration. Its on the left hand side, follow the harness going behind the cover. Drain the engine oil, remove the cover over it and remove the unit, the wires are caulked in...
