Motorycle For Sale 85 vmax 5500 miles

I've put my vmax on the back burner for now until I can figure out why it stumbles at 1/4 throttle, I have been through the carbs time and time again every time I take the carbs off it runs different. I think I'll let the bike sit there for another 20 years

I know the inside of the fuel tank has some surface rust in it. I have a cleanable fuel filter on it, yes these carburetors keep me from enjoying the bike I don't ride it much because of that reason, I have cleaned them soaked them gone over the carburetors myself, being a pretty good car guy I...

Motorycle For Sale 85 vmax 5500 miles

I've only had them worked on by myself I'm a pretty good mechanic when it comes to cars but every time I mess with them it seems like it runs different every time, I've just took them apart and clean them haven't really replaced any internal Jets or floats or anything. One cylinder running rich

Okay I agree but the one cylinder that's running rich just happened to be the one that has a larger jet, I'm going to tear them all apart again and verify everything again and go from there I may even drop them down to 147.5 on the main jet. I'm still working on things and tearing things apart...

    One cylinder running rich

Well guys I found my problem I must have screwed up the last time I rebuilt them low and behold here's my main jet, I must not have had my glasses on for that one, or somebody took the carburetors apart after me and rebuilt them and put the wrong jet in,😁😁

    One cylinder running rich

Thanks for all your help guys I'm just trying to figure out why this one is running rich. This should explain my low RPM loading up.

    One cylinder running rich

I have the same Yamaha service manual so I'm talking about the left rear cylinder which is number one I just have my own numbering system but officially it's the back left

    One cylinder running rich

Yes the last time I rebuilt these I bought a cheap set on fleabay and that's part of the problem, I need to get all OEM parts and go from there, what is the best way to get the brass seat out without damaging the carburetor I would assume it comes out in the direction underneath the brass plug
