Welcome to the forum! I'll be doing a similar thing soon. I would also say double check your tank for bad rust and maybe use evaporust or something if it is. On an older bike I had, I learned there's no feeling like a freshly installed pilot jet clogging immediately :)

    Idle drops when hot

    Good point.

    Idle drops when hot

That's a very good idea, I've ordered an inline tester and a screw it in and play with frequency on the bench kit. Caveman eyeball watching spark against ground probably isn't optimal, plus if someone suggests more tools... In terms of electrical diagnosis you can bet I'll be following the...

    Idle drops when hot

68, 65, and 72 were the last 3 prior to red light. The work was warrantied, but apparently "it's running good and you should live with the gas mileage." I've elsewhere posted a few YouTube videos on replacing various parts of the bike, none of which have interplay with that system. At this...

    Idle drops when hot

Fair enough. The nomenclature I used is ambiguous, I apologize. I meant to say: the last time I asked someone with a shop of many years experience to go through and rebuild the carbs, with OEM kit, and set the mixture screws and sync etc. It was new to me at the time, 2 carb set up were the most...

    Idle drops when hot

It is working, and that's a good idea to check. Part of the plan is going to be to get voltage off, at idle, at 2500 rpm cold and when up to temp with fan running. It may be weak spark at idle with overdraw on the fan. I may pop the top off and double check the work on the tune/recent carb...

    Idle drops when hot

Okay, but were that the case why would this be a sudden artifact after around 800 miles post "professional" tune? The spark plugs were changed about 3 days before I brought it in for that, so that will probably be the first order of business to check. Can you clarify? Other than the use of the...

    Idle drops when hot

I really appreciate the answer on short notice. Ambient temps here are high, South Florida is dipping into the summer season. I can say it wasn't an issue a few weeks ago, onset was very sudden. I will clean the grounds. I'm pretty confident with electrics, so I was hoping a good dig through...

    Idle drops when hot

Just sanity checking here. So a few days ago I took maybe a two hour ride in 90 degrees or so. After getting back I noticed the idle went from 1100 to about six. Moreover, if I touched the choke about a millimeter it would kill it at that time. Fired right back up several times while I was...

Don't know if this goes here but here we go.

Fuel Leak Part II - Completely stumped.

There is a jb weld specifically for tanks that is pretty good. Maybe empty it or mostly, cover a bright flashlight with something that blocks it coming from the fill cap and explore that way. I would say pull the tank but that's kind of annoying until you verify.

Roger. So it is a drop in replacement up to the pipe. Thank you!

    Clutch Return Hole

Does the galfer clutch line have all of the equipment the OEM one does? In photos it looks like the line is just two loops for banjo bolts, whereas the OEM line (15 in the diagram with the master cyl) has basically everything until it fits into the pipe (part 32 in the clutch diagram.) Should...

    Clutch Return Hole

It does help, I just have a skill, experience, and neuroticism issue. Any uncontrolled polyethylene glycol or the derivative ethers would drive me insane without a designated cleanroom, beach living doesn't favor garages; and I like my liver and my dog's kidneys, though the biological action is...

Gracias that's what I was thinking too. Glad you know that's the equivalent and grouped appropriately compared to aftermarket rebuild kits.

In terms of major corrective surgery does the attached look about right? I put question marks where it might not be clear whether to replace while in there. I plan to go with galfer stainless lines on the clutch side as they claim to be wrapped with PVC to prevent abrasion.

    Clutch Return Hole

That's a good thought, I thought that too but it really only seems to be a moving toward upstairs problem, standard bleeding with the ol wrench and squeeze makes the bleed screw lively. The opposite isn't true. When I replace the assemblies and lines though I'll prolly give all the stuff still...

    Clutch Return Hole

Sorry it's 4 years, service manual section 2-3 paragraph/note 1 point 3. I remembered incorrectly. Okay. So, no compressed air on hand but I do have those plugs used to clear condensate lines with c02 cartridges so that'll work. So, maybe it's the line gunking stuff up then, but...

    Clutch Return Hole

Okay so I attempted a reverse bleed, and I found the amount of pressure to get fluid up the line was more or less prohibitive. I was using a clamp and 200ml syringe, and best I could do was make the fluid upstairs jiggle a bit from a couple mls of fluid. Had I tried harder I have no doubt it...

    Clutch Return Hole

That makes sense and I hadn't considered it. I suppose I could reverse bleed and see if there's improvement, haven't had much time to tinker. The fluid was clean though. The clutch gets real spongy when hot. At this point I'm thinking if there's crud in a 22 year old master cylinder with 22...
