89 VMAX. 16k. Just bought it. Runs GREAT. But when I put it up for the night on a couple of occasions I have sen a couple drops of oil near where the drive shaft mounts to the transmission. Does this sound like a gasket? How had will this be to change? Is there a way that I can check...

Let's face reality here, the VMAX is not exactly good at turning. And the bars are so close together that they just don't feel right. Are there any bars available that are wider but don't require me to change cables and hoses?:ummm:

Picked up an 89 VMAX tonight. It only has 16k on it and it runs FAST. But its far from perfect. It has a charging issue, but I think I'll look that one up. The cowls are peeling. Hit it with some Mothers and it didn't seem to help much. What can I do to clean these up? Do I need to...

New wierdness.... Just pulled the plug wire from that cyl and it made no difference in how it was running. But when I tested it for spark it was hitting. Jez man.... I'm loosing it here guys. Anyone want to throw me a bone?

Finally caught up enough to screw with the VMax. Still starts and idles but as soon as I turn off the choke it will not idle. I pulled the intake off and found that one of my carbs would back fire through the top. This carb also does not suck as much air as the other three. I put my hand...

Is there a specific way the carbs mount? IE: Is there a front carb and a rear carb? I don't think that I got them mixed up, but I'm looking for anything at this point.

Cool, did this. It seemed to flow pretty well. Not high pressure like in FIN applications. I'd say it had about 8 lbs of pressure. Wonder if my fuel filter may be partly clogged? Perhaps it has enough fuel to run but when I rev it up the supply may be restricted. I'll throw on a cheap lawn...

I re-cleaned the carbs---- COMPLETELY... I hear and see the V boost mechanism working when I key the ignition. I can't see down teh tubes to verify if it is actually opening and such. Is there a way? And how would I disconnect the vboost with it open? Is there a wire to unplug? The bike...

Mine is an 01. 100% stock. I'm a pretty experienced rider / race. Let's say i get a decent luanch and manage to not mis a gear or do any screw ups.. What kind of times do you think I am looking at?
