I've been watching this thread for awhile an seen many suggested fixes.
But have you made sure everything's square wheel wise,
vertically and horizontally.
It could be as simple as the forks being not square an is in a bind. Or the rear swingarm is compromise somehow.
What I don't understand is...
I have forward controls and I like them. Depending on how tall you are can be a problem, I'm 6ft tall. You lose a little bit of a leaning angle. I've scraped the bottom of the pegs a few times.
You joined 3 months ago an your trying to say 10hp lost is nothing. I'm pretty sure it's 10whp loss which is a lot. That's losing over 10% over a stock Gen1. When a proper exhaust an jet kit can gain over 10% whp. It's been proven for over 20yrs.
I don't an wouldn't give anything. It's hard enough to be competitive with a almost 30yr old bike. But I make it work, anything from a dig to 90 or 100mph. I can make just about any bike worry about losing. Unless they have launch control with finger up shifts.
I grew up an live in Muncie Indiana guess where the GM muncie 4spd was built. I seen/rode in just about anything that GM offered in a 4spd. It did help my dad worked for GM from the late 60's to the early 90's.
Your defeating what a V-Max is all about. From a dig is where a V-Max shines. I've had my ass handed to me more than once from any sport bike 1000cc built in the last 20yrs. From a 30 to 60 roll to 100 your only going to shift 1 or 2 times. Roll racing bikes is for people that can't shift or...
2.02in 1.64ext valves double hump heads cannot compare to even the cheapest china heads today. I've never seen a 2.2" intake valve, that's over ½ of the bore diameter even if its bored .30 on a 4" bore.
I didn't know Blueprint Engines had there own Blocks now. I still have a 70's 351w with 25yr old iron Dart Sr heads. But the only thing Ford is the block.
You know you can buy a different sets of foot controls an seat modifications. Raising the rear will just make the bike handle worse than stock without a lot of other modifications. Is it the angle comfort your setting or leg an arm movement. I went with forward controls an a 2" riser with angled...
Anything removed from behind the back of the exhaust will help. Isn't anything worse than fixing a leak on the slip joint right rear. If you have a aftermarket exhaust.
I know Billet Bike Bits has a few different options for the Gen1. I have his forward controls an lever's. It just depends on how much you want to spend.
Have you looked at Billet Bike Bits? He has triple trees. I have his forward controls and levers.
If you're wanting to maximize your 1/4mi times. A extended swingarm, rear struts, air shifter, ignition interrupter, 85,86 front wheel 2 to 3 lbs lighter, single disk front brake.
I'm not going to tell you what wheel an tires you need. My V-Max is just a play toy, A to B from dig. So going to radials,I wanted the fattest tire without spending more than the bike is worth. But that fk'n Mod 🐒 got me again for over $3k. But I have to thank Sean an Kyle for the help.
