GSXR 600 Conversion

Chemicaly remove'd the paint from rim a still work to do with fine polish.
Michelin Pilot sport radial 190/50-17 and still have 6mm space so i plan to fit 200 tyre.
Rim without any offset, swingarm stretched and notched.

I've made this all by myself - coupla hour's of my work on lathe.






About 3 weeks to do this but i was definitly wotrh it.

It will look marvelous when it will be polished like mirror
I have a motor split and waitnig for the crank from Sean so i have some time to
polish it.
When it will be ready i'll upload pic here.

I've made the whole project almost for free, but i have access to may kind of machines, i can work at them and also Im welding myself.
Take a look for example hmm...carrozzerias.
70% of complete value is machining job etc.
Then can it get costly.

Next to do for me is my buddy ZX10R rear to convert.
It may be litlle difficult...we will see.

Those are some great pictures if I was a forensic scientist and needed to see every pore in the paint,, any chance you have some scaled down pics maybe 900 reduced?

Since some guys askd about my17" rim mod the answer is: yes, i can make those more.

My mod includes:

-5,5" or 6" rim, i would recommend 5,5"
-new bearings by TIMKEN
-bearings spacers
-seals
-polyamide clutch hub dampers already pressed into hub

You just need to reinstal your stock clutch hub into my rim, reinstall dust cover and put a tire.


Machining cost is about 413$ and it will vary with foreigin exchange
and for know is 1$ = 2,9PLN
Basicly 1200PLN and its constant.

There're lot of rims that i can buy locally for about 80-100$ in good condition
with only need repainting.
I will strongly recommend gsxr 600, TL1000 or hayabusa rims and also 5,5" width.
With 6" there will be bigger offset.

Max tire for 5,5" rim is 200 and it is also max widht tire that you can put on
v-max "notched" swingarm. Without notching you will put max 180.
So theres no sens to go 6" rim.

With 5,5" rim and 180 tire there will be no offset.
With 5,5" rim and 190 tire there will be about 2mm offset.
With 5,5" rim and 200 tire there will be about 7mm offset.
It all depends of tire manufacters.


My modded rim weights 7,8kg with bearings and spacers.

I can machine rotor adapter to keep stock rotor;
Price would be 120PLN so about 42$.

Shipping costs via Polish Postal/USPS would be about 100$.
About 5 to 10 days to deliver. Last time when i've shipped package to Sean
it tooked 7 days.

on the oem 'clutch hub' or as i call it "the star thingy that engages the drive spline" haha. are you getting rid of the rubber? so the 6 pegs go straight into the rim? Do u have a pic of the wheel w/out the clutch hub on?

Im using polyamide bushings since there no way to remove factory rubber dumpers from wheel and new one runs for 15$ each.

If someone wants to use oem rubber damper theres no problem to me.
I can drill correct holes for them.

Im using polyamide damper and after 3-4k miles(dont remember exaxtly)
theres no problems and never heard any complains from guys that i've sold my rims.

You cant go without any dammping/clutch in the wheel Garret.
It will short you shaftdrive life instantly.

is there a notch for the circlip(snapring) that holds the clutch hub on the new rim?

sorry for all the questions, just curious as well. i've had those rubber dampers be a completely pain in the ass for me since i got my rim powdercoated. all the internal sleeves came loose from the rubber, had to weld them onto the clutch hub, then one of the rubber things came unglued from the external sleeve, epoxied that back in. anyways interestined to see the sleeve u made. is it just pressed in?

Yes they're painted on the second pic.

Yes, theres a notch. Basicly evrything is the same as the stock wheel.

Yes, they're pressed into hub, of course they're less flexible then stock rubber ones but id rahter take that as an benefit couse you will have better grip imo.

Its similar effect to soild motor mounts.

If your holes for dumpers are destroyed you can always drill them out to the higher diameter and fabricate new polyamide(or wahatever) dumpers.

There're some powdercoating shops around.
I thinink that would be no problem.

Ya know, i've painted this by myself with typical chepo painting gun.
Im not he pro painter but as you can see it looks good

The Hayabusa and TL1000S/TL1000R have 6" wide rear rims.

Possible Mark, i dont really know.

I've bought one 5,5 rim someday and seller claims that is tl1000
rim. Bought another later and it was 6".

I guess somebody messed up something and sold gsxr rim as tl1000.

Yep, someone messed up. ALL TL1000's had 6" rear wheels. ALL Hayabusa's had 6" rear wheels. Identical wheels. Some TL owners run 5.5" rear wheels to fit 180 rear tires as it fits better on a 5.5" wheel and gives the TL quicker handling. So, your 5.5" wheel could have come from a TL, but it did'nt come factory on it.

just a newbie question : what is the maximum size of tire on a stock swing arm and stock rim ?
