Well, having nice ride today in NYS Bear Mountain, just leaving from taking a leak (TMI???) revved up a little high in 1st gear and heard a few pops from the exhaust. Bike shut down. No matter what I did it would not start up. It would crank over fine,, but it seems like there is no spark. I'll...
So today I go to clean out my garage and pull the max out. I unlock the steering...but leave the key in the lock. (doh!) As a result, when I pulled my key out, it was bent like a banana. I went to try to gently bend it back into shape and snap...broke it in half. NO, I don't have a spare (if...
Anyone have luck replacing / reparing the odometer stem as in trip mileage counter stem. Mine is AWOL so Ive taped around to keep water out. Positive note...the odometer still works fine.
Has anyone had any issues with the gen 2 master cylinder joint snapping where it attaches to the brake pedal?
Mine had the bottom break off were the pin goes through 2000 miles.
Seems to be a cheap casted part.
Guys,
Maybe a stupid question. But better asked then left behind in the darkness of my mind :biglaugh:
I am from the Netherlands so my English may be a little off.
From what I could find on the other topics, it is called my midgear/pinion gear or differential broke (see picture)...
I dropped my bike today :sad2:, but it wasn't as bad as I'd thought it would be. But I do have one issue: the mirror threads on the right break reservoir broke off with the mirror (I guess it was tougher than I thought).
Any idea on how to secure the mirror back on? the threads left on the...
I made a post on the Nat'l PI day thread in which I listed PI out to around 100,000 decimal places. When I hit enter, it crashed, so I went back and modified my post to show PI out to nearly 50K decimal places. It too crashed, so I gave up. Now, when I try to enter that thread, the whole...
I broke off 1 of the carbs drain spout, To fix it - I drill out the back off the drain with a small drill bit. I install a silicone hose size 5/32" and wire tied so I don't pull through the drain plate holder. And extended all drain hoses about 5.5" to hang out so don't spill any gas on the...
Man i will never use a ratchet wrench again on these bolts man. :bang head:
Outer bolt rear lift hand side.
I went up to the yamaha dealer ship with some pictures they said the heads need to be pull off to remove the broken bolt at a cost from $600.00 to $900.00 to repair.
Any help on the...
Had a break down on the thruway (90) with the company lowboy. Electronic fuel shut off solenoid went bad. Had to get towed. The lowboy is 66 ft long. I was real interested to see the wrecker and how they would tow this thing. It happened around 11 at night so I couldn't really get any pics. The...

This sucks and I am not beating this thing that hard.
11.29@121 mph.
Snapped the driveshaft on the next pass.
I can't believe with a pretty much stock bike that I can be snapping driveshafts like this.
Obviously this bike wasn't meant to be at the track and beat to death the way...

Boy, I'm pooched now! Was installing a new slave cylinder into my 85 VMAX, and POOF! One of the two allen screws that holds it on just decided to SNAP! After cussing like a sailor for about 5 minutes, now I have to figure out how to get it out. It's the top bolt, and there is NOTHING left...
So, Proud first time owner of a VMAX for one week... I admit, I like to get on her... but that's kind of the point. It's a 2000 carbon edition with double d clutch mod, solid motor mounts, and it's got one of morley's seats too. Favorite bike I've ever rode so far. Yesterday, I was gettin...
So I found the problem finally!:eusa_dance:
but I havent figured out how to get it out yet:ummm:
So! Here we go...I pulled the midgear/bevel gear assembly and upon inspecting the midgear components left within the motor I found that I split my "Damper Cam" in HALF...the picture illustrating...
So I did a wheelie over some train tracks last night and I heard POP GRIND GRIND GRIND from my drive line the second I whent to do it.
I hope its not a transmission issue, theres been NO problem or noise leading to this point but now it wont put power to the ground at all. it just revvvs up...
