hooking

I got a Bluetooth stereo to hook up. I tested out the stereo before getting started my just connecting it to a battery and it got loud enough I think to hear going down the road I think. I have not hooked it up to the Max yet but I do got the speakers mounted(to the side scoops with a Z-bracket)...

When I try to hook up the positive lead from my battery Tender it arcs like a welder, any ideas? Some kind of serious short??
