You can separate the compressor from the air horn easily. Makes fitment easier.
There are 2 retaining points.
Then it comes apart.
I'm sure you can see what needs doing.

I see that others have done this, but I'll throw my hat in the ring too. I installed a new STEBEL NAUTILUS horn onto the max. I have had one on my Triumph Rocket for a couple of years and it is great.

Put a pair of Stebel 139 db electric (not air) on my 1995 VMAX. I've rewired them for a neater installation since I took these photos. I plugged the old horn leads into the coil terminals of a cube relay. I then ran a fused wire from the battery + to the relay & then from the relay to the horns...
Picked one of these up today. I see a few people posted on this about where they thought they were going to mount it but not a lot of follow up about how it turned out and how the install went. If you have one I have a couple questions,
