    Starting problem and wet exhaust

Hello, I am new here since I got the bike only a week ago (my dream bike!). And I got it for a fairly good price (even though had to drive 9 hours to get it). 1996's model, 143HP V-boost included. (28k miles) Maybe anyone could help me with these issues: 1. Sometimes it starts up...

    Long wet ride this weekend.

In typical Todd fashion, I had the bike apart before I left. If was getting new tires, new brakes, and a few fixes on it before I left. My shorai battery took a **** and burnt up on me. Luckily I had the last battery that was in there and was able to put it back in and it was ready to...

    86 dies when wet

Hey guys. My 86 dies whenever it gets wet. Weather I wash it or get caught in the rain. After it sits for a day or two and dries out it will restart. I can't pinpoint exactly what it is. Any thoughts?

    signing wet concrete

Have you ever been tempted to leave your 'mark' on wet concrete? Seems simple enough. But there can be limits. I guess guys with hardhats and the orange const cones aren't enough. Maybe next time they should post some signs?

wet float vs dry float levels

I've noticed that setting my dry float with the 1.125" gap does not result in a 17mm wet float level. Any reason this would happen other than a bad caliper? I assume I should adjust based on wet float measurements rather than dry?

    wet fork seal

Went for a ride today on my 02 max and I stopped to grab a bite to eat and when I was done I noticed fluid on my right fork seal. I wiped it down and then road an hour home hitting some major bumps and when I got home I gave it another inspection and there wasn't a drop. Should I look into...

    Bike becomes offended when wet???

OK...again, I'm about to sell this *****. I had the carbs rebuilt. When I picked the bike up, it died every chance it got until the battery died from excessive restarting about 1/4 mile from the shop and I had to push it back. The mechanic put it up on the rack and started it up. It was...

Best wet weather tires.. on stock.

Alright. I *might* have a little bit of money left over. Not nearly as much as I wanted, I was planning on getting the rear foot shifters from Morely, or his jet kit. Sadly, money flys when you actually have it and now there is only a little bit left. One thing that I do think is function...

How to measure wet float levels

I've been asked how to do this and notice there isn't a sticky for this in the carbs section. First, here's a link showing where the float bowl drain screws are: http://www.vmaxforum.net/showthread.php?t=1570 The line on the carb body to measure from is on the left side of each carb just...

    Wet float level checking thoughts

I set up the dry float levels but many times when I try to check them I get very low readings and have to lower the fuel drain line let some fuel run out and then get a different reading. Not sure why this is. While cleaning a set of old carbs I had an idea. Not sure if it will work but when...
