Riding back to Somerset after a bit of fun in Johnstown, my Max hit another one of those numbers on the odometer that kinda grab your attention.

The "1" signifying 100,000 miles doesn't show on the odo, but the digits that do showed "23456.7". "123456.7" is getting there, I think. Time for that first oil change..

Must be running one of those new fangled syndicates ...:rofl_200:

A little birdie told me you get that kind of mileage outta yer oil when you can't even keep up with a Burgman scooter. I mean, I'm just sayin'.... lol

It was great meeting you two this past weekend at the motel.

Great to hear the bike is still going well after all those miles. You must have one of if not the highest mileage Max here?

I still think of this guy I met at a gas station a couple years ago that had 230k on his 1982 GS850. Said he'd bought it brand new and swore it was the original engine.

There was an old man on a 81 BMW that used to come down to cruise night years ago and the bike had 230,000 miles on it. The thing had hard bags and nobby tires and the paint was faded to **** but the bike was ridden year round...he was about 75

Bill that it very impressive man...just curious, do you ride the bike hard or pretty conservatively ?

Ride briskly, but not what you would call really hard or abusive to the motor. Once in a while hit the boost - just to remember what it felt like to be 35 again (1985). Oil is a religion with me - 2000 miles and I'm ready to change it.

Put a stator in it. Replaced a clutch and slave cylinder. A couple valve adjustments (actually just checks... all 16 were fine each time) At about 95,000 miles, I had a leakdown test done. I don't remember the exact numbers, but the guy who did it said it was basically in new condition.

No other work done to the motor, and hopefully most of the folks at Thunder heard it run.

Yes, Kathy's Burgman has shown me it's tail light a few times, but I seem to recall she led ALL of the folks who rode to Johnstown after breakfast Friday...... She had a blast at the motel meeting a group of great people!!!

Some neat numbers ! I should have kept my 99 so I could see how long one would make it that had the **** beat out of it on a daily basis. It was still going strong at almost 99,000 when I sold it & it lived at the drag strip.
