Jealous, My bike is in pieces :( was a freakishly warm 50 degrees out here today.. normally frozen with snow all over this time of year.. would give just about anything to be out riding. I was in Seward AK a few months ago.. Wish I woulda had my bike with me. Alaska woulda been a fun place to ride.

Seward is a great place to visit. I've been there a few times to check out the marine life center.

KJ, Last time I rode when it was that cold, The Military Guards at NORAD made me put my bike in their building.....
They said no bike should have to set out in that kind of weather... BTW: I had a rain suit on for added cold protection.
It shattered when I got off the bike...:rofl_200:What's the wind chill at 18 degrees and 100 mph????:ummm::confused2::clapping:

18 deg F @ 50 mph is -6 deg F so by interpolation should be about -30 F

It would be effing cold
:protest:
I took a friend's bike back to him, I had a one piece thick insulated suit on with 2 layers on under that. I had full face helmet with a scar wrapped in around the bottom. Work boots with thick socks and leather gloves with a pair of brown cotton gloves in side that. He had moved to Dayton, Oh. from Louisville, Ky. about 160 miles door to door. I left my house it was just at 20 by the time I got to his house it was around -5. I felt like a Paul Pop. I have never been so cold in my life. My hands, feet and head was so cold it hurt to move them. I even stopped 3 times to warm up. I was glad to ride the grey hound home.

I've had mine out in the low teens, I went for class and a couple hours later the temp dropped to -17. It slowly cranked, but on the third crank it fired up.
It was weird the temp gauge barely moved on the way home. I tried to record it with the helmet cam but the cold sucked the life out of it.

The BMW rider looks like he's crazy but I bet he's wearing electric heated clothing/ boots, maybe heated grips and sittng behind the fairing probably wasn't too bad....maybe. Ice/ traction was probably his biggest worry. LOL, "taking it out for a spin", indeed!
The coldest I have ridden in was 28* but only had a few miles to ride to get to work. I worn my normal cold weather gear: Joe Rocket Sonic jacket w/ liner/ balacava, insulated gauntlet gloves and 8" composit toe work boots. If I was going on a longer cold weather ride I'd put on waterproof textile pants that have a insulating liner but never actually had cold enough temps to put the liner in.
Luckily the sun had come out and it warmed up into the high 40's by the time I got out of work, not to bad for end of season ride. It may have a cool sunny day here in the upper peninsula, but no where near the temps that KJ enjoy's!
