85 stocck exhaust

does anyone know what is different with 85 exhaust?
why wasnt it dot approved

my 91 pipes are drilled out and im thinking about switching to an extra set off of a 85 thanx for the input

I believe the original exhaust was 2 db's too loud. Exhaust outlet was 1mm larger in 85 too. The VBoost tubes also changed size in 86 from 30mm to 32mm...

Honestly Bro, I don't think you are gonna gain anything you can measure or feel. Sell those 85 pipes to someone restoring an 85 and spend your cash on a Morley airbox upgrade, or a stage one or better breathing 4-2 or 4-2-1 exhaust. If you are fat like me, lose 50 pounds for an improvement you can measure in the 1/4 mile!
