A mechanical engineering and biomedical engineering graduate from the University of Miami, Rony Abovitz, who has a tech company named "Magic Leap" has generated over a billion dollars in start-up capital from Amazon, google and alibaba, which you probably recognize as being headed by some of the richest men in the world.

The product he's developing is supposed to be capable of doing this and more. He's got a big development space in south Florida, not-far from my home and is hiring people who have to sign non-disclosure, non-compete agreements to work there. Scientists involved in lasers, optics, computer science, and electrical engineering are being hired.

Here's a patent they have, looks like the device is going to be capable of allowing you to project holographic content into the viewer's visual space, so a first-person shooter game would see a stereoscopic holographic 3-D image or images in their field of view. That should be a real boost to gaming, but there is an obvious "more-intimate" use that would be a huge market, one that is not 'family-friendly.' https://www.lens.org/lens/patent/US_2012_0162549_A1

This is a great story about Rony Abovitz and his work, and Magic Leap. http://www.browardpalmbeach.com/news/rony-abovitzs-magic-leap-may-reshape-your-reality-8112885
