I promised Dave I'd post an update here, since I am installing my progressive springs and replace the 8yr old oil with 20wt. My kit also includes a one inch drop and no instructions at all on setting the spacers, should be fun to figure out.

Anyway, mark your calendars, actually got both of my forks apart with a rattle gun, no yama-tool, and no horror stories. That's gotta be a first.

Will update after completion and test ride.

You will like the Progressive springs....I went with 15wt, 20wt was too harsh for me.

Most of the forum locals run 15wt, but then most of them don't weigh 300 lbs either. Had a real mother of a time getting them back together until someone reminded me to cut the stock spacers back.

Trial by fire, took Max up to Big Bear this morning for a run. Little greasy until I got the new front tire scrubbed in, but you folks sure were right about the huge difference in the front end. WAY more confidence under hard braking and in left - right transitions. Definitely harsher over the small stuff but more than a fair trade.

Sidenote, this project seems to have killed my deceleration wobble around 40mph. I would guess that under stock conditions there was enough dive in downshifting to set up an imbalance. Either way, it's gone, and I don't miss it.
