Hey guys I have a 17" rear wheel I'm trying to replace the bearings in, however, one of the OEM bearings is too large for the hub I have. I ordered bearings for my 2007. The wheel I bought was advertised as a kosmann, even though I think its a cycle one off based on looks. 3 spokes and a welded in vmax hub. Did I get the wrong bearing? Was there different size bearings for different year hubs?

Should have been all the same. BUT, the 91-92 wheel showed a different bearing that was smaller in diameter. I've always assumed that it was an error in the microfiche. Maybe you can get the dimensions or part numbers off the old bearings?

Depends on which bearing you are talking about. The drive side (left side) of the wheel should use the vmax bearing since it has a vmax hub. The brake side (right) will need a bearing with a OD that matches the wheel but the ID will need to match the vmax axle.

I purchased a 17" weld up wheel from COO and the brake side bearing needed replaced. I was lucky because the bearing in the wheel had the correct ID to match the vmax axle. But, it was junk so it needed replaced. I just wrote the part numbers down off the bearing and called a bearing distributor and told them to give me the Koyo equivalent of the part # but make sure it was sealed on both sides.

If you have the old bearing and its the wrong ID you can use the info from the that bearing plus the info from the vmax bearing to order what you need.

I also use a needle bearing though different from stock (unobtainable outside Yameringha) and even that is around 40 dollars each, on the right side i just use a regular 2RS or ZZ type.

thanks guys, my wheel ended up being a 1991 gsxr 1100. So the bearing on the drive shaft side was for a vmax, and the rotor side needed a 91 gsxr bearing. They are even refunding the wrong bearing I bought. I mounted Pirelli angels, new bearings, can't wait to test radials once this snow melts!
