Hi everyone I was wondering if an air shifter would trash a stock trans? I just updated my shift segment and did the DD clutch mod and was really considering an air shifter too but the trans is stock other than the above mentioned mods, would it hold up or is it a bad idea? Thanks in advance everyone!

We sold him a Pingle shifter and have pics of the bracket you can make (or we can make it for you).

Do you have a model you are wanting in particular? Typically about 10% off retail.

You probably would want an electric kill over air. Part number 711 ($360 retail). If you converted your swingarm to an air tank you could use kit 709 ($332 retail). Either way you will need to make your own brackets since they aren't offered by Pingle. We could assist in making one or simply show you the bracket we use on the gen 1 (one bracket to weld to the shifter and one to bolt on the engine).

We've use the air kill and electric kill on the gen 1 but your gen 2 should work better with the electric kill.

I have the engine kill already through my PVC, I just need/want the air-shifter portion. I can manufacturer my own bracketry as well.
Tell me about using the swing arm for the air tank.... what about pressurizing the bearings?
I have the yami bags, but do not want to use one for an airtank....
 
Depending on how the stock swingarm was made you can sometimes drill/tap the swingarm tubing and install your connection. Some swingarms have holes at one end or the other and won't work without being sealed up.

On our race Fazer we had installed a plug in the arm when we extended it (chain drive arms are usually hollow all the way out. We even drilled across the center and welded the outer tubes back closed so that both sides were part of the same "tank". We had a lot of tank storage that way and could get a number of shifts before refilling (which we did with an onboard compressor).

yeah, don't think the GenII will work this way, there is a large inspection hole on the inside of the left side of the swingarm. Actually have to remove the inspection plate when you run the 240.
 
You can't seal the drive side but the brake side should work. It depends on how the factory cast the swingarm. From the looks of the arm I would say it's hollow throughout and would require some modifications to make an internal air tank storage.

If the arm was extended (which we have not done before but bet we could do it), then it could be modified at that time while it's cut apart.

What I used, and plan on doing again, is a CO2, or small 3000psi high pressure air tank (like the ones used for paintball) with a regulator to get the pressure down to operating specs.

They're easy to mount, simple to fill and will last a goodly long time at the track without a fill.

4oz-CO2 tanks will get you about 200 shifts and runs about $15 (minus regulator)
48ci-3000psi HP tanks will net you 600+ shifts and then some. some tanks include the regulator and start about $40.

Bottle regulators that replace the nipple start about $35 for a decent one.
 
Paint ball store should be able to fill it or exchange it. I can't remember but want to say you can get them at many stores like Walmart too.
