I'm in the market for my first set of radials. I am considering getting a set of michelin pilot power in 120 and 180 sizes. Anyone know of a good deal out there? I'm open to other brands too.

I'm going to give the dyna beads a shot. I ordered some stuff from Ron Ayers and noticed they are pretty cheap on there so I orded up a few ounces

+ 1 on Motorcycle Superstore. Very consistent pricing & selections . Check your local dealer as well , as I picked up a set of Bridgestone ( 016R & 016F ) Battlax 120 / 190 ZR 17s for $ 200. + tax .

mike i'll forward you the email i got from bikebandit today as well.

Ended up going with Bike Bandit. Got a set of Metzeler Sportec M3 in 180/55/17 and 120/70/17. Cost to my door was $221.92.

I typically buy my tires from motorcycle superstore. The same tires were $222 and change.

Could have got some Pilot Powers for a couple dollars more. Not sure which tire is better?

Motorcycle superstore offers free shipping and there is a 5% coupon code but BB was still a little cheaper. PLUS, they thew in a $10 gift card which isn't factored intot he price above.

Thanks for the input guys, I don't enjoy comparison shopping.

Sounds like you picked up some nice tires at a good price. I've been using sport touring tires for the last 3-4 years and love em. The Dunlop Roadsmarts and Michelin Pilot Roads have 2-3 types of rubber compound - sticky sides, stiffer centers for better wear. They're a bit pricier but last a longer time, and perform beautifully in the wet / rain.
With Bikebandit, if you're an American Motorcycle Assoc member, you get a permanent 10% off on top of anything they list - sales and closeout included. Makes it worth it imo. Customer care seems to be good too - they sent me a free set of tire irons not long ago as a 'bonus gift' at checkout. Not sure I'll ever use the levers, but cool nonetheless.

+1, sale on until today, at least in the email I received. I'm looking at ordering Shinko 011 Verge 120/79-18 ($75.43) and 200/50-18 ($129.71)

the advance are on sale too. i've heard a 130/70 tire will fit and bring it back to stock height. i have one sitting in my basement ready to go when my verge 120 goes.

The tourmasters are a nice setup for good traction tires at a reasonable price....now go pay the installer $70 to put them on!

Where do you get your tires swapped for 70? unless your removing them yourself. No center stand so I get to make the stealer do all the work.

Cool, let me know how that goes. It sounds like the 120/70 may leave more of a gap than stock which I'd rather not have. I'm not a fan of the shimmed down fender.

I'm thinking the gap will be minimal with 110-80's, if my calculations are on . I have delrin bushings for a 100 tire I'll use or cut down if the extra gap bugs me. Thank you to Bill K. I got the front 85 wheel pc'd today, satin black. Front tire in the mail, B-day present from Tina. It?s almost radial time. Back wheel is a 3 spoke Kosman, pc'd satin black already. I rode Garrett's bike, Forestdale Dave's too, and was hooked. The radials obviously impressed me. The 85 wheel matches ok. I got radials on my Vmax for a good price, plus my labor.

i have a 120 verge and i needed 3/4" spacers to look somewhat similar to stock. i didn't think i'd like the look either but with a black fork brace, black fender and the black delrin spacers its not too bad

looking forward to putting it back to a the stock if the tire fits.

I'll start counting myself lucky.

I've got a neighbor who runs a shop out of his garage who swaps mine for $20 ea. I pull the wheels (well under 10 min each, maybe 5 min for the rear from the time I put her on the center stand), walk them up to him, and he calls me when they're done.

Bonus: He's a dyed-in-the-wool Harley man. Harley certified mech, Harley owner, 2 Harley Edition F-150s, and $100K+ worth of Harley bikes from customers in his driveway at any given time. Of course, he tries to get me to buy a V-Rod every now and then, but I can't blame him for tryin' :biglaugh:

thats the reason i bought a tire machine. gonna try to make some money here. theres one place for $35 a tire but you have to take your old tire back, the rest are $60, $70 and i found one that wanted $85 PER tire, OFF the bike!!!!!
