A shift lever for cheap? Not the whole assembly just the shifter lever itself. Had an unfortunate bout of pavement surfing this weekend and need to get a new one. Bike is opperational but the lever is bent up about 3 inches

Ken, have you searched eBay? They always have a good selection of parts for the Max. Also check with Mario, he's done some heating and bending of aluminum. It's worth a shot.

Ebay usually has them but i searched and couldnt find any at the moment. If you wanna go the cheap route i suggest you bend it back to operational if possible and watch ebay like a hawk.

Not to be nosy but i was curious how the bike turned out besides the shift lever? what happened?

Peace

You should not have too much trouble heating up the shifter and bending it back in to place. We have done that with pretzled up ones.

I went down on a ride this weekend. Slow speed, 20mph maybe. Slid 20 feet on the left side. I was taking a simple left turn into a parking lot. I still have no idea why the back end washed out. There was no sand or oil, just a dip in the road. Im gonna try to bend the lever back, I found them new for 8$ on bikebandit so I could always go that route.

Here are some pics of the damage. Not shown are the scratches to both turn signals, and some small scrapes on the mirror and bar end

Ken, a cheaper way to fix the muffler is to get a good sawblade and cut off the scuffed portion, keeping the cut parrallel with the original end. If it's a good chrome job, it should take a careful cut. Just one idea.

I had some scrape marks on one of my bike's exhaust canister and I took it to a professionall polishing place. They were able to polish it back up and you couldn't see any damage. Yours don't look too deep, so this would probably work.

Looks like you have cobras as well amen brother. Now im gonna have to bug you about your jetting etc. Run rich? Sorry to see the damage man hope all works out but glad your ok.

Ive decided to replace the levers and mirrirs with Carbon Fiber. Im going to have the scoops painted black over the winter.

As far as the pipes Im undecided about the cutting versus the polishing advice.

Clintard, it was running rich, but I have adjusted the mixture screw to get it right. My advice is trial and error, and someone who knows what they are doing to help you. I love the look and sound of those pipes, doesnt matter to me that they are restrictive. Plus I drilled them out!!
