I just need someone to look at the harness where the voltage regulator plugs into the 6 way plug . Mine is gone . I have a 6 wire plug that goes to 3 for the regulator . Manual shows nothing . Wirediagram shows nothing . Please just check your bike .

Not sure what your problem is - also checked out your first thread.
I think what you mean is that you bought an aftermarket RR, that has a six wire connection (now melted)
I believe some RR's do have six connections - 3 for the stator(alternator), 1 for battery positive, 1 for ground, and 1 as an indication source, for the ignition (not used on the v max)
Please post a few photos of the RR, the wiring connections in question, and possibly the brand name of the unit.
Cheers!

Nope all OEM parts . Six out of the stator . Only three on the regulator. I'll try to figure out how to post pics.

Gotcha. I'm starting to see the light....
The diagram(s) for the 86 models show a total of eight wires coming out of the stator. 3 whites for the RR, then a 5-gang for the pickup coils (early models used two coils), which all go to the ignitor unit.
But still doesn't match the numbers you describe. We need some photos!
Cheers!

Got it! The six wire plug was someone's cob job . I followed it back to some more tape and there was the mess . Three white out of stator into six way plug back to three for the R/R. Big thanks to Morley's sent him a couple pics and he fixed it over the interweb . Awesome job . Today I ride .
