Battery drains when running

Battery is a good gel type
Recently the battery has started draining when run. It holds charge sat

Regulator/Rectifier may be failed?

Test the voltage at the battery with the bike running. At 3k RPM it should be over 13V.

Battery stands at 12 plus so no problem. Start up it starts charging a little put more revs on it drags it down lower than 12

Use the link info, sounds like the R/R has decided to not work properly. Do the troubleshooting to confirm it's shot.

Sounds to me r/r for sure .. I wouldn't take that bike out until fixed unless you're into pushing heavy bikes ...

Not hard at all I'd buy the exact replacement although I'd buy 2005 r/r with fins and reinstall same spot behind passenger peg also check connection for stator wire they seem to melt ,,,add some diecelic grease on connection

A replacement looks like this: So a matter of undoing 2 bolts and disconnecting 3 connectors. The 3 connectors are different and keyed so it would be impossible to plug them back incorrectly.

These can be bought from about £25 on ebay, and people have bought the cheap ones, some have had problems others not.

Exactrep are the go to place for Vmax expertise.
The sell one for £92 or £104 (heavy duty).
