Test the voltage at the battery with the bike running. At 3k RPM it should be over 13V.

A replacement looks like this: So a matter of undoing 2 bolts and disconnecting 3 connectors. The 3 connectors are different and keyed so it would be impossible to plug them back incorrectly.
