So I went to a dealership on Wednesday over lunch and talked to a salesman about a bike that I'm very close to buying. I told him I wanted to wait until spring after my 'Max was sold. He then walked me over to the sales manager to meet, and one of the parts guys was showing me some sweet after market slip on pipes that went on the bike. After some small talk I had to get back to work.
Thursday late morning I get a phone call on my cell from the salesman. He said that since there was snow the sales manager was feeling "generous" and could make a deal on the bike that I wanted. I said I was going to stop by Saturday (yesterday) with Samantha so she could see the bike and we would talk about it after some other business we had to do Sat morning.
Sat morning I took care of what I needed to and got the news to be expected so it was looking decent to be picking up a new bike and supporting two bike payments if the deal was sweet enough like what was expressed to me over the phone. I figured the first nice weekend the 'Max would be sold, so I had MAYBE two months of two bike payments, not a huge deal.
I had Samantha with me and met Roefer up there and we were talking and I advised that it would be probably Tuesday after everything was wrapped up that I could put a serious offer on paper for them. He understood and took me over the the sales manager again, re-introduced me. The sales manager asked if I knew what the price on the bike was. I said I knew what MSRP was on the bike. He said "Well that's the price of that bike. I don't need to discount that bike as I only get a few a year and I don't have a problem selling them". I played the nice guy and thought I'd call around to another dealership who's advertisment was if you were buying this particular model of bike somewhere else you were paying too much. Once I found that out I was going to go back up there and let him know how I feel about it.
The jist of it is I'm just so pissed that he lies to me on the phone, wastes my time up there, then I'm told they don't need to sell for less than MSRP. I figured if that were the case the bike would have been gone between Wed and Sat, but what do I know.

I can't stand the stealers... They were all spawn from the same pile 'O crap IMO! :bang head: They can kiss my you know what!

If I remember right I saw a beautiful slightly ridden late model FZ-1 at Hawkeye Honda in the Q.C. some time back...:whistlin:

Yeah, I was actually read to deal on a Night Rod Special H-D. I go back and forth between the American V-Twins and a Sport bike.

The salesman probably figured you REALLY wanted the bike so he was going to **** you over for it, $ wise. Go back in a month and if it's still there, tell him how much you will give him for it.

Oh I'm sure it was something like that. I may have a connection in a FL H-D stealership, but we'll see this week when an e-mail comes back how good a "hook up" it really is. I wonder if it'd be cheaper to fly down and ride it back, or just have it shipped......

Do both with the new Buell with Rotax power! I am looking at one in a couple years...:thumbs up:

Tell him you're on your way in to buy it and to get the paper work and prep the bike but then never show up.

Hal

i think you will be getting a call soon about that bike soon....longer it sits there the more it cost them..give them an offer something to think about

Tell him, after you thought about it that he was right. Then go over, do all the paper work but don't sign anything. Make sure you get a whole wack **** too, like a set of leathers, gloves, helmet, boots... Then get up and walk away - but make sure you ask him how it feels to get lied to .....and you may want to add how much of a ****-head he is .... as you leave, give him an offer on paper and let him know if he's finished ****'n around there is a serious offer there for him to give ya a call. :surprise:

Hammer is a good looking bike. Only complaints that I read about was lack of top end and lots of vibes at highway speeds. I would reduce the rear tire size too....maybe a 200.

A very good friend of mine rides an '06 Kingpin with zero problems out of the bike. The only complaints I've heard from some guys switching over to the Victory bikes is that the 6 speed is a little loud. Nature of the beast on it.

I think a 200 tire would look goofy on the back of a Hammer as the stock one is a 250.

FWIW my Aunt works for Polaris up in the Spirit Lake plant in the office. I'm trying to see what her cost is on a Hammer at the moment. ;)

Haha or just roll in on a Victory Hammer and tell him tough ****. :D

When I was in my mid 20's I went into a Pontiac dealership near me cause I was interested in a Firehawk that had sat on their lot for a year. Salesman just treated me like a kid who didn't know what I was talking about (when I knew more about the car than he ever would) and could not afford it anyway. after 3 visits with this ******* where he just talked down to me the whole time I left , went out and found a year old used 'Vette and bought it instead.
I walked into the dealership about a month later went to his little cubical, said "Hi, do you remember me? I was interested in buying that Firehawk out there." when he said sure I took him across the showroom to the window and showed him the nice black 'vette parked next to the nice black Firehawk. I then said while pointing at my car, " I was not fooling around and this is the last time I or any member of my family will step into this showroom!"...
then turned around and walked out with him standing there stuttering.

Felt as good as almost anything I have ever done.

Well I got back from the Victory shop with the wife and boy. We're leaning HEAVILY towards a Victory Vegas Jackpot with the Stage 1 set up done before we take 'er home. We're going over finance options with the credit union tomorrow vs. Victory's financing to see what we want to do.

*EDIT* Just because I may not have a V-Max anymore, I hope that doesn't mean we can't go riding fellas. ;)
