just got an 86 with 13200 miles that had sat in a garage for a few years. It starts and runs but very rough unless you rev it hard.I removed all the carb side covers and checked the diaphrams and they look fine,no holes or cracks that i could see.pulled them out, cleaned everything up that i could get to and still rough.I removed the airbox and noticed when the engine runs the right front carb doesn't seem to want to cooperate. The plunger and needle do not move in and out like the other three.I removed the side cover again and with my finger moved the plunger in and out and it feels like the needle is sticking in the hole.My guess is that the needle might be bent, with the diaphram appearing to be alright is there something I might be overlooking?thanks:ummm:

Or the carbs are gummed up where the needle seats, or the slide is sticking.
One bike I did up recently had sat in the desert for a couple of years.
The fuel had dried up, leaving a varnish-type substance so hard even soaking (just) the jets in paint thinners wouldn't budge some of it.
I be suggesting that you pull the carbs right off, and either get one of the gurus over there to clean them in his ultrasonic dodad, or have a go yourself by hand. Well worth it in the end..

I think i found the problem,The piston attached to the large diaphram inside the carb side cover has a crack in it which is causing it to get caught when it travels.I did pull the carbs out, disassembled them and did a good cleaning, surprisingly they were not that bad.Don't know if it's worth trying to start knowing of the crack, besides the battery is dead from all the previous tries.I'm sure it's been asked before but where is a good place to get these parts?

That would be a slide. Not to sure of where to get them stateside, but someone will know.
Glad you found the issue

found them @CheapCycleParts.com.It was about 30.00 less than @ the dealership hopefully they are'nt junk.I'll post and let everyone know the quality of the part.If they're nice then I'll probably just replace the other three,I'm sure they're all original.
