Carb kits or just needle shims?

Hi looking at kits and carb shimming for my 98 Vmax, currently runs ok, been popping on one side a lot, but just stripped it down, and plugs look a little lean.
So after advise on shimming or carb kits, cant seem to get a price from the Morley site for his. I am in UK
0-40 ft Sea level
Full exhaust 4-2
K&N air filter
T Boost
Carbs look stock and ideally just need a tweak. I cant seem to find Carb needle shims though Dooh
 
I also found the plugs were Iridium, I have a new standard set I am going to replace with, also general service at same time

Here is what and where I've bought needle shims from. You will need 2 kits (for 4 carbs). The 20 thou shim is equal to 1/2 the distance between spaces on adjustable needles. The best way to yet ahold of Sean, is just pure email. [email protected]

I live in Phoenix Az. and have a ton of needle shims. All in various thickness. If your 98 has the stock exhaust I would suggest going with a .020 thickness or less. All gen 1 vmaxes are set to run a little lean on the needles, at cruise, for gas mileage purposes. With the stock exhaust you don't need to go "really fat" on the needles. The shim size I suggest, won't effect your mileage that much. But with the t-boost those shims should make quite a bit of difference with your partial/full throttle response. Give me your address and will I'll ship them to you for free. The lean "popping" you hear is probably a plugged idle mix or fuel pilot circuit. You'll have to pull the carbs and clean them. When I say clean, I don't mean with a ultra sonic cleaner. You can disassemble them, and clean them, with them still on their racks. But to blow out the the idle circuits you will have to pull the float bowls and diaphragm covers off to completely disassemble them. Your right to go with the stock plugs. Good morning vmax-13 Welcome. I have a question , my '86 is stock with marks 4into 2. I am at 7500 ft. elevation. Any suggestions for jetting or shims? Thanks in advance P.S. I am not looking for more performance just a clean runner.
Probably 147.5's and a 20 thou shim to start with. I am a big fan of the factory pro needles (if you can find them). I would recommend them pretty much over the stock needles. That way you can adjust them where you want them. They have an amazing transition point.
