Man JBrettHorton That's real close my dad, lives in Valrico! This site is awesome I never see another Max in my travels. "I ride to work almost every day".

Captain Kyle- I'm waiting on a needle jet, 1 enricher, "Choke valve" assembly, and 4 orings for the needle jets. Everything paid for but has not shipped yet. "The only thing wrong with the choke valve was the small end was slightly bent, and I figured I could gently use a pair of pliers to straighten it,and you know the rest! "Snap". I'm about to order a shortened kickstand from Sean, and then I should be good for a little while.

well I had a few of them parts around here. I keep a bit of stuff on hand gaskests, fork seals, starter clutches, valve shims, fuel filters etc. If you want to ride this weekend let me know we will slap my extra set of carbs on there for the day & you can ride with us.

I really appreciate the offer, But my carbs have been apart on the bench for a week now. I will probably wait until your next get together if that's ok. I spoke with Cycle Parts Warehouse and they were waiting on one of the choke rod linkage set screws before they shipped my order. the # 3 carb screw had fallen out,So it should ship today. Is it common for the needle jet retaining screw to come loose? When I bought this bike it had intermittent times it would run like crap and the #2 plug was gas fouled. By accident I noticed the #2 jet had come loose and was sliding out into the carb opening around the needle. Once I took the carbs apart to rebuild I found all kinds of loose jet's in the bodies and main jet blocks. "No wonder it would idle weird".

allisontech: Not Normal for things in the carbs to come loose that I know of..:ummm:

Do you work? You aren't all that far away from St. Petersburg. We could hook up some time and compare VMax Notes...:biglaugh:

Thats fine we will meet up one day. I hope you get your parts & get it fixed soon. It sounds like some one else has been in them carbs & left some things loose.

Your right someone had definitely played with these carbs before, the number 3 carb is much newer than the rest, "Kind of scary on a 2004",they probably left the stuff loose when they had them apart.

Yes SpecOps 13 I work in Tampa at the local Allison distributor, I'm the transmission foreman. I've only had this Max for about 6 months,so my notes are limited! LOL
Up until now I've always had sportbikes, I have finally smartened up I don't need to go 175 MPH anymore. "I wish I would have bought a Max a long time ago"

Hopefully we can all meet in the near future!

Just wanting to put all the knowledge I've gained from my 89 project bike to work before I forget it all...:biglaugh: Yours being an 04, you should have a huge headstart at making it run great.
