Checking Carb Float Level

I have read the how to on this subject but do not quite understand without step by step pictures. Know how to connect a tube to the drain and open the drain valve but the measurements and comparing to a mark on the carb is confusing.

Is there any other article about how to check the float level when on the bike with gas in the bowl? Thanks.

Make sure the bike is level, mark a clear hose at 17mm. Attach hose to the drain and hold hose upright with end level to line (on the side of the carb). Open drain screw and cycle fuel pump by turning the key on. Fuel level in line will show you where you are at. If the fuel is above or below the line by a large amount, you will need to adjust your floats.
