Ok, so I checked on my stored 88 vmax last night ans I noticed there was an antifreeze leak under it, after investigating it I found that it is comming from that plastic valve located behind the front tire, looks like a drain valve, is this a common problem , and is there a simple fix without draining the antifreeze? I'm scared to mess with that valve, I dont even know if its turned in the right direction, the writing isn't level it seems to be twisted up on the left -- any ideas?

This should explain it pretty well for you tiger: http://www.vmaxforum.net/showthread.php?t=7351&highlight=drain+****+assembly

There's a couple o-rings in the assembly, prolly one of them leaking. Chances are pretty good that once you get her warmed up the leak will stop, if not then it needs replaced. Not too bad a job except hard to get to.

Where in NY are you?

Can i put a little stop leak in the system, or is that bad? Also if i remove the valve to try and change the oring, is it a crazy procedure to refill and bleed the coolant system, or is it as simple as pouring new af in the fill under the side cover?

Not sure on the stop leak, but I sure wouldn't put it in my bike.

It's not a bad job to replace the o-rings....I removed the headers for better access, but not sure if that's necessary.

It's self bleeding, just top it off, warm it up, check and top off again if necessary and put the proper amount in the reservoir bottle.

For now, just warm it up, see if the leak stops, if it does run it! The leak may get worse down the road....change it then.

With the bike running and warmed up a little take a rubber mallet and tap the drain ****. That should help get it sealing again.
