Hi guys,

Today is the day I finally put back the bike all together after the accident.
The bike was stored for already 6 months... an eternity !!!

After cleaning, we rebuilt the carbs, put back stock needles and installed 147.5 main jets. I also replace the dying diaphragms and change the 4 rubber boots.
Everything is OEM.

Just need to get a new set of spark plugs.

The bike is accelerating strong but take forever to decelerate.
I don't feel any braking power of the engine.
Where could it come from ? did I forget something ? lol

Someway/somehow the fuel or air is still being sucked by engine while throttle supouse to be closed.

Id say firstble check the throttle cables as they working as they should.

+1 - check your cables !. Maybe they are dislocated or jammed. If there is no free-play the idle speed will hang high. Me & Uncle Philthy played around with this issue on his bike. Be sure you have a small amount of play in your cables as you sync & adjust carbs. Throttle should return to idle with no effort when you release it.

does the throttle snap closed when you twist it and let go(engine not running of course) you should hear it snap shut

yes it does.
I adjusted it this morning and the throttle goes back to original position.
Can also hear the snap, no problem with that.

I wonder if it's really link to the throttle only, could it be on the carb side ?

ya it can, how about loose boot on the carb causing it to have a vacume leak?

Yeah i thought about it. I saw another post about the vacuum effect but not much details there.
I'm sure I was careful when I replace the boots. But It's worth to check again, just in case.

I think I will open the carbs soon again, that's the only way.

I saw a post from Maleko saying the linking box, between the carbs and the throttle has to be dry. Mine contains some grease, I guess I will clean that up too.

New boots, cables checked but still idle get stucked at 3k RPM.
So i guess i'm not done checking :(

I just observed the idle stay high on neutral but when i put the 1st gear, releasing the clutch slowly, the idle go back to normal. Then I go back to neutral with a normal idle.

Any idea for a desperate man ? lol

You might look in there and make sure the enrichment plungers (the choke levers pull out) aren't sticking out just a little bit when you close the choke. Carb sync can be a big contributor too.

Sean

I can vouch for the carb sync thing and the idle hanging high.

My idle used to appear to get "stuck" around 2K when decelerating and coming to a stop. If I blipped the throttle, sometimes the idle would come back down, sometimes it would stay around 2K.

After a carb sync, the idle now comes right back to around 1k as soon as I am off the throttle.

I had a small issue since the beginning with the choke. It always had an hard time to keep its position, I usually need to maintain it with the finger.
I guess i will check the choke in detail, you might be right.

We did several sync already, but none since we changed the boots.
so I guess, it's worth to take a look at it again too.
We have been checking everything, last issue to remain :(
I cross fingers it just a sync needed.

We checked also the vboost boots, everything seems fine.
The bike still run like crap and i'n only doing 41 miles before hitting the reserve.
Before the issue and the carb rebuild it had a crappy mileage with only 70 but now it's really worst :(

I will check for finding another mechanic who could double check, maybe we didn't see something obvious.

Michael dont ride like that!
41 miles means a lot of unburned fuel.

That unburned fuel goes into Your oil.
You can blow the engine by that.

I think You may try to check floats level or floats valves. I think Your fuel may be leaking into cylinders.

Yeah no worry, I won't ride it unless the issue is fixed.
the floats have been already checked and setup following the indication of maleko in the sticky.
Hope the mechanic will find out.

Floats level may be ok but those small valve bastards may leak.

Be sure the change the oil at the end.
Good luck!

Coasting enricheners diaphragms are damaged, could be the cause of all my troubles (high idle like an air leak and high fuel consumption) ?
