The Car
of Your Dreams by
Professor Vernon Verigan, 3-25-15
For 27 years you have looked
for, hoped for, dreamt about another car like you had back in 1988. It was a
perfect one, great looking paint job, powerful engine, classic lines, great
mileage, comfortable interior with ample seating, just the right growl when
accelerating, could stop on a dime, awesome sound system, could withstand any
kind of weather or terrain and everybody said there was none better. But sadly
it had given its all and had to be retired.
You loved that car because it
had everything you wanted in a car and you have been trying to find another like
it ever since you had to let it go. You have tried some others but they couldn’t
quite live up to the standards set by that car back in
’88.
You’re getting older now and
your children are now having children and you have just about given up hope that
your children who grew up enjoying all the amenities that that car provided for
them will ever be able to have the same amenities for their children. As a
matter of fact it seems that the cars available today seem to offer little if
any amenities of that old car back in ’88.
You start rehashing to
yourself again those thoughts of ‘why can’t they make cars like that again?’
‘It’s not like having to re-invent the wheel or something like that!’ ‘It’s just
all the standard basics packaged together perfectly in one car.’ ‘How hard can
that be?’ ‘If I ever see another car like that I will do whatever it takes to
get one, even if it means paying more that I expect!!’
One day you get a text on
your phone saying that the car of your dreams will be revealed on the internet
at thecarofyourdreams.com at 12PM eastern. It has everything that you are
looking for, great looking paint job, powerful engine, classic lines, great
mileage, comfortable interior with ample seating, just the right growl when
accelerating, can stop on a dime, awesome sound system and can withstand any
kind of weather or terrain. You can’t believe your eyes and can’t wait until
tomorrow at noon.
Noon can’t come soon enough.
With eager almost giddy anticipation you go to the website and sure enough,
there it is, even better than you could have imagined! What will it take to own
one of these? You find out that they aren’t in production yet but if you put a
$200 non-refundable deposit down on it and convince enough people to do the
same, you can own one next year for the price of your deposit! What! That’s
easy! Anybody in their right mind would want one of these! And with that
motivation you immediately go out and turn the world upside-down so that you can
once more own that car of your dreams!
Ronald Reagan stepped down as
president in ’88, and we have been looking for that perfect candidate ever
since. Using the analogy written above we have finally found that Ronald Reagan
candidate in Ted Cruz. On Monday he asked us to imagine him as the nation’s next
president. He’s a Southern Baptist, he used faith-friendly phrases such as “God
transformed his [father’s] heart,” “the transforming love of Jesus Christ,”
rights that “come from God Almighty,” “the grace of God,” “God’s blessing,” and
“God isn’t done with America.” At one point, he said: “Today, roughly half of
born-again Christians aren’t voting. They’re staying home. Imagine instead
millions of people of faith all across America coming out to the polls and
voting our values.”
He wants to repeal “every
word” of Obamacare, stop “executive amnesty” for illegal immigrants, enact a
flat tax, abolish the IRS and DOE, and protect religious liberty, human life and
“the sacrament of marriage”. Oh my goodness, I have died and gone to
heaven!!
He went on to say, “It is a
time for truth. It is a time for liberty. It is a time to reclaim the
Constitution of the United States.…”
“This is our fight. The
answer will not come from Washington. It will come only from the men and women
across this country, … from people of faith, from lovers of liberty, from people
who respect the Constitution.”
“It will only come as it has
come at every other time of challenge in this country, when the American people
stand together and say we will get back to the principles that have made this
country great. We will get back and restore that shining city on a hill that is
the United States of America.”
This is a man who says what
he means and means what he says. He has a backbone of steel with unwavering
principles, values and convictions. He’s a Christian, conservative,
constitutionalist. Are you willing to put your $200 down and convince enough
people to do the same and then turn the world upside-down so that you once more
can own that perfect car of your dreams? I know I am! Have you endured enough
pretenders who are almost good enough but are weak in one thing or another? Are
you ready to go on the offence? If so, then with God’s blessings step up, gather
your courage and join me in electing our last, best hope to save America, Ted
Cruz!
