When I first got on ebay awhile back there was a feature on ebay itself where I could put in the max $$ amount I wanted to bid on something and it automatically bid for me. Does ebay still have this function? If so, how do you enable it?

its there by default. you put your max in and it only goes as high as a few dollars over the highest anyone else is willing to pay if you're the highest.

there are sniping programs too.

OK, so its still there. I haven't "bid" on anythign in a long time. Usually just buy it now or contact people for best offers.

when you place your bid you place the higher ammount you are willing to pay. ebay bids a very little ammount every time someone else outbids your bid. untill it reaches the higher ammount you entered. then it stops

Understood, I used it before just didn't know if it was still an option. Why are the auction sniping tools any better than this?

because they wait until 10s or so are left in the auction and place your bid. so if people are holding out to the last second its typically faster than humans can be.

and also nobody can see you bid on the item . so for example if there is 1 bid from someone if you bid from ebay he will see that someone else is interested too so he may raise his bid. but with a snipper tool. he doesnt. you catch him in his sleep

It keeps the parts from being driven up in price a little at a time too. BUT, as more people use the snipe tools they start paying pricing higher them they might have otherwise (you still put your max bid in which it won't go over).

I've had good luck using quicksnipe.com. Easy to program, works great, totally free, no BS. Typically use it if I know I won't be around when an auction will be ending.
