eBay speedo/Tach

A few months back I bought a speedo/tach on eBay for about $45 with free shipping. I expected a little work on installation but hey $45 right?

It arrived pretty quick, considering it came from China. In true fashion, no instructions. So putting it on my desk, I brought out the lantern battery, test meter and went to work.

Those who are considering the buy or are just looking for a new speedometer and tachometer, here is the way it was wired (NOTE: I got the one that is speedo cable operated. not the magnetic pickup, so I don't know if the wiring is the same).

Although it reads only in KPH (for me that wasn't a problem. The, slightly more expensive, magnetic pickup one switches between kph and mph). It works great and is spot on. I was clocked by 3 different units and it was dead on. If you order be sure you tell the person your front wheel size and motorcycle.

So far, I couldn't be happier with it. I like the way it looks and so far the way its performing.

Looks great, wish it had a water temp readout though.. Still a good alternative to a Koso though, I've got a Vapor on mine now but the tach doesn't work because I have COP's otherwise it'd be perfect... Good job and thanks for the wiring diagram

This was just a blurb on the one I bought, there are other versions where the fuel gauge switches to a temp and a oil pressure gauge, I already have a temp and oil pressure gauge so I went with the least expensive.

I made a bracket for it, then drilled two holes where the old speedo used to be then bolted it up. But the stock speedo cable was too short so I had to go with an extension. I bought a 10" (better safe than sorry) but a 6" or 8" would have worked.

No screen yet, I have a screen I'm working on. Just not put on it yet.
I'm thinking of ways to shape it so it will blend in with my headlights. Then there is the mounting bracket that I'll have to make.

Ha!! I knew she looked familiar... I have that original picture in my "Motorcycle Girls" Folder on my PC. It is where I keep all the pics posted here including Redbones avatars. BTW, what happened to Redbone's occasional avatar updates? :ummm:

+ 1 , Yuk Yuk . I thought at first blush , it was the naked girl on some of the bike rags , whose pic was taken on " bikes " formed out of painted , naked , models . She is smokin' hot by the way. Do you know the pic I'm talking about ? I would love to have you " put " her on one of my VMaxes .

I think so, Its the models that were airbrushed to match the bike's paint job right?
If you find it, send me a copy along with your bike's picture and I'll do one up for you. pictures 1200x1100 or a little bigger are the best to work on.
