Unlike most other bikes where the carbs bowls stay full of gas from the gravity flow fuel tanks, the vmax carbs fuel bowls go thru the evaporation process, thus leaving a gummy mess on the pilot jets. Some times I wonder if we would be better off draining the fuel bowls when we know the bike will be sitting a month or two.

Re: Exellant carb cleaning service

Tank doesn't have any sediment of any kind, the gas is mostly ethanol free with Seafoam but not 100% when I put the carbs back on. When I initially had the carbs done it had a little Sunoco Ultra 93 which I topped off with ethanol free and I have since continued to top off with ethanol free when it would take more.
I have run the bike 15 min+ 3 or 4 times and worked to get the choke off as much as possible each time. I never drained the carbs first though...
The filter looks completely clean, nothing in it at all, except fuel...and I changed it in conjunction with Dannymax's tear down.
The bike is stored in a garage, and there is no evidence that anything is breaking down.

Did you try pea shooter with this problem?

Jet block plugs dry out, shrink, and fall loose into the bowls... ask me how I know.

Every other rubber part dries & shrinks also....Viton rubber or Buna-N, is designed to operate in fuel, cycle your fuel pump regularly during non riding times & use a stabilizer.

I throw a little Marvel Mystery Oil in also....it's kind of a mystery just what it does but it's been around longer than dirt so either it's really good **** or MMO makers are the best ******** artists on the planet....:confused2:

makes me wonder if I'm gonna need all new jet block gaskets, too. They look good right now. As a matter of fact, I just carved out a bit of time to finally finish reassembling them, so I might actually have one running bike this weekend.

Drain the bowls, then shut the drains. Disconnect the main fuel feed line where it goes into the carbs, and attach a small funnel on the end. Fill the funnel with sea foam (I used gumout) and let it sit for half hour to an hour. Drain the carb bowls, then hook everything up and run it to see if it cleared up. If not, repeat it again and let the cleaner sit in the bowls for a longer period of time. It has worked for me, and you don't have to pull the carbs off....just the air box!

This is my Saturday plan. Thanks!

Why don't you PM dannymax and he can explain his service to you. You won't be sorry and I'm sure I save a quiet a bundle of money by letting him do the job. He also put the carbs on a bike he has and test runs them, making sure they have no issues before sending them back. You can also email him........................

You know I've been following a lot of these threads and keep reading....Danny is so good....Danny fixed me up.....blah ...blah...blah....Danny this Danny that. I'm seeing it over and over. Then it finally hit me.....what a scam!

Danny actually HAS NO CARBURETORS OF HIS OWN!! He has gullible people send him theirs, he cleans them up a little bit, you know blows the dirt off with an air hose, sprays them with some Windex, and then uses them on HIS bike!! The when the next sucker sends him a set.....he sends back the set on his bike and does it all over again!

I'm on to you pal!

Re: Exellant carb cleaning service

Post of the month right there... That would be pretty funny, though.

Soaking right now. I'll give it an hour and see how it runs!

It might have been a little better this time but still requires some choke to run and if you try to give it throttle it will die unless you work the throttle quickly/repeatedly to get it to higher RPM.

I am soaking it again, this time for two hours.

This is a real thread jack, sorry!!!

No worry here, this is interesting, Keep posting:eusa_dance:

I read a few opinions on soaking the carbs with SF in the bowls and I think for this round I am going to let it sit till tomorrow night. I am not holding out much hope but we'll see tomorrow night.
